We stayed at this hotel in May 2011.
General impressions of the hotel are positive.
Koktebel itself is a quiet village for an amateur.
But we had a slightly different goal - auto-travel along the eastern coast of Crimea, so we didn’t bother with the beach and entertainment in Koktebel itself. The main plus of the village is a calm, not noisy, beautiful place, excellent cognac and a minimarket in the center where plastic cards are accepted! : ))
Now about the hotel.
Advantages:
1) Somewhat far from the center (this is a plus for us, because we wanted silence), but someone can consider it a minus, because it's "to cut and cut" to the beach.
2) The hotel itself and the rooms are clean, everything declared is available: refrigerator, TV, split, normal beds, shower.

3) Kitchen at the hotel - respect! Tasty, cozy, not pretentious, not expensive (for dinner for 4 people they gave less than 300 gr. - 3 chops, salads, side dishes and a first course). And what is important: they allowed to bring their own wine and served glasses to it. By the way, in the evening in the cafe you can watch a movie right on the wall of the hotel (through the projector).
4) The staff is friendly, welcoming. No antipathy towards Russians : ))
5) No advance payment was required when booking. All of our questions were answered by email. mail quickly, in detail and patiently.
6) They promised discounts for the next visit to the hotel.
7) GREAT prices! For a double room paid 700 rubles. Room class is a good standard.
Minuses:
1) Very thin walls. At times you could hear your neighbor snoring.
2) Sometimes the hot water ran out. Although, I think it was due to numerous construction and renovations before the opening of the season.
3) It's hard to find a hotel without a map. But if you know where to go, the road is easy. The first time I had to stray, because. per. The school one is on the other side. The map posted here on the site will help in the search.
Recommendations to hotel owners: put signs on the road.
4) No Internet access.
5) It’s difficult to get there without a car and far from the sea (but for us this is more likely not a minus).
6) There are construction sites nearby, but where are they not now? Plus, they're probably all over by now : )
In general, we wrote the cons rather for those who choose a hotel in Koktebel. We liked everything. If we are in Koktebel again, it is very likely that we will stop at the Golden Gate again.
