Who does the author recommend the hotel to?: For a relaxing holiday; For business travel; For families with children
Hello!
I want to share my impressions about the trip to Karlovy Vary in July 2010.
Hotel "Imperial" category 4 * - fully corresponds to its category in terms of service, food, sanatorium treatment. This hotel is quite in the spa category. The building and rooms have been renovated. The building itself is old, but equipped with almost everything modern. The only thing there is no air conditioners, and in the first days, during this abnormally hot, even for Karlovy Vars - summer, we really missed it !!! . Fortunately, the heat was for three or four days !!
The entire program of stay at the hotel is built on proper nutrition (about it in the nutrition section), procedures and physical activity (free hikes accompanied by a guide through the forest). Therefore, in fact, after 2 weeks, you feel an influx of energy and good health.
The location of the hotel.

Very good location - on the mountain, in the forest - a quiet and peaceful place, from almost all the rooms you can see the forest, unlike many other hotels that are located below, in the city, where there is a constant party of tourists, and this summer the facades of buildings and roads are being repaired .
Guests of the hotel can use the funicular for free, as well as buses to go down to the city.
Spa procedures, sanatorium treatment.
Basically, all the procedures that the doctor prescribes are more of a nature: relaxing, raising a good mood and slightly tempering the body. Upon arrival at the hotel, the doctor conducts a (superficial), examination + takes tests and prescribes these same procedures. Here you will be told what kind of cholesterol you have and if there are abnormalities in the blood (diabetes, etc. ). The most important thing, when you are prescribed these spa procedures and procedures, I recommend that you do not skip them, because in fact, as I already wrote, after a 2-week spa stay, you feel rest in body and soul. Basically, these are: pearl baths (with Jacuzzi mineral water), carbonic baths, massage, Pilates, swimming pool, hydrotherapy (also with mineral water), inhalations, pneumopuncture (gas injections to improve metabolism), and paraffin treatments for hands, feet and back.
Nutrition.
The food is varied, it is rather a Continental table, where everyone will find something to their liking. For example, there are dishes from beef, pork, chicken, fish at the same time for lunch. As well as broths, side dishes, desserts. What I liked is that many of the dishes are steamed, so you eat a lot and practically do not gain weight. Chef chef - respect, because all the dishes are delicious.
Currency.

Basically, in Karlovy Vary, the kroon is in circulation, so immediately change the euro to kroons (the exchange rate there is 25.2). Since not all establishments (pharmacies, sports clubs and car rentals) accept euros. But there are shops and tour agencies where you can buy even for dollars. Not far from the colonnade (landmark tour agency Renata) there is an exchange office where even rubles are exchanged, but the exchange rate is not profitable, 1.5 times more expensive than in Russia. In the same exchanger, the euro-krone, dollar-krone exchange rate is normal, without hidden%.
Excursions:
Excursions can be bought at the hotel, but they are 300 - 400 kroons more expensive, so I recommend buying in the city. There are no problems with buying tours from agencies in the city, because they have licenses, the buses are European, so they are quite comfortable, the guides are fluent in Russian, everyone in the travel agencies also speaks Russian.
We took the first excursion to Dresden - through the Kaleidoscope, the agency is located: pass the colonnade (downstream the Tepla River), pass the pharmacy, one building and behind it (against the bridge) turn left, then 150 meters and there will be an agency on the left side. In Dresden, we visited all the main places (the Gallery and the Grunes Museum. Grunes - I highly recommend, be sure to visit. ), The guide speaks fluent Russian, tells the story very interestingly and memorably. In general, I really liked the trip and the organization of the tour. The cost is 1080 kroons (or 1620 rubles in translation) per person
The second tour was taken in the tour agency "Renata", went to Prague. The impression left was disgusting, because the tour itself was not built successfully, we left late, went to the sights out of order, practically ran along the Charles Bridge and the square (but we stood for hours at some buildings that were not clear in history), so we really didn’t have time to do normal photo and enjoy the beautiful Prague, and in the end we were not even given free time to calmly look at the main monuments again and buy souvenirs. The guide was Larisa Dmitrievna (she herself is from Belarus) - I really do not recommend spoiling the rest and going with this guide.
In general, from Karlovy Vary to Prague you can take a regular bus to the final station Bus Station, which is a 20-minute walk from the center of Prague.
Rent a Car:

We rented a car from Victoria Khandrikova +42.775 66.826. Citroen 3 costs 2100 kroons (3150 rubles) for 1 day, 3600 kroons (5400 rubles) for 2 days. + gasoline, the cost of 1 liter - with our money 80 rubles + navigator 500 rubles. And a deposit of 200 euros. I recommend it, because it is very convenient, they called a day in advance and they brought you a filled car on time, they also took it on time, there is no need to go anywhere. There is a car rental near the colonnade, the prices are the same, you can also rent a car at the hotel, but the prices are high for 300-400 kroons more.
Purchases:
In Karlovy Vary, there is practically nothing to buy except for souvenirs (mugs and Becherevka). Clothing stores, including those with the "Hugo Boss" sign, are reminiscent of antiques, very old and expensive.
It is better to buy Swarovski jewelry in Prague in specialized stores that are in the center. There is more choice.
I also want to write about the Outlet in Prague, so as not to mislead people - this is not an outlet - but an impostor, more like a Chinese market, which is in every city. There are definitely no multi-brand clothes there, from cheap clothes like MEXX - models from the year before last, made in China, at high prices !!!
If you have thought up shopping, then it is better to rent a car and drive to Ingolstadt village, this is a German village 370 km from Karlovy Vary, where the outlet is located. I am very satisfied, I stayed with the purchases, because we got into the discount season and bought a lot of branded items at ridiculous prices for us. For example, Calvin Klein jeans - 3100 rubles (with our money), Hugo boss windbreaker jacket - 4200 rubles, Esсada jacket - 3800 rubles, etc.
I want to write about Tax Free - when buying in Germany and the Czech Republic, they took all checks and tax free, at the Karlovy Vary airport they returned taxes to us without any problems (within 5 minutes in cash) 200 euros. Checks d. b. correctly filled in the store and stamped. , then there will be no problems with the return.
