Sanatorium "Imperial", consisting of the main building and the villa "Hoffmann" 3***, is located in a picturesque place of the resort, on a hill, in the middle of its own park with indoor tennis courts and convenient communication with the city center - funicular and bus. Near the resort there is a funicular station, where you can go down to the center to the source. Travel is free for guests of the sanatorium with treatment. Reconstructed, furnished in neoclassical style. The silhouette of the hotel building resembles a romantic medieval castle that has proudly towered over the city since 1912. The sanatorium provides complex spa treatment, one of the most modern in Europe - provides up to 850 procedures per day. Drinking treatment is also provided in the sanatorium itself - on the 1st floor in the drinking gallery there is an outlet of the mineral spring "Vrzhidlo" (No. 1).More →

I lived with my husband at the Imperial 4 * hotel from 01/04/18 to 01/19/18. Initially, we bought a ticket with accommodation in Villa Hoffman, this is the building of the Imperial sanatorium. The hotel itself is not located in the center, but on the edge of Karlovy Vary on a hill. There were doubts about having to walk to the city center in order to drink water. But according to the tour operator, water was supplied to the hotel from a source, so it was not necessary to go three times a day to the center of Karlovy Vary. Another huge plus of this hotel is that they have a funicular nearby that runs every 15 minutes and literally within 3 minutes it is already in the city center. For those staying at the Imperial Hotel, the funicular is free (you must show the room card).
According to the medical base, it is very good. A large number of different procedures, ranging from gas injections to mud therapy.
We took a tour for 2 weeks, which included 32 procedures, this is quite enough. And additionally 2 times a day they drank water as prescribed by the doctor.
The doctors at the hotel are qualified, on the first day of arrival they scheduled a treatment program for two weeks, having previously looked at our tests that we did in Ukraine.
Therefore, who thinks to go or not, for my part, I advise this hotel!

The facade is beautiful. The food is not bad. In Russian, the hotel understands not bad, but not all. Some people know a few phrases, the rest is only in Czech. Intermediate English is only known at the reception. Cleaning the room comes down to updating the toilet paper and making the bed. Bed linen is not changed. Garbage on the floor lay a week from the date of settlement. Decided to take it myself. Dust is not cleaned regularly. Surfaces in the folds of furniture, under the TV, etc. have not been wiped down since the day these objects appeared in the hotel. During the procedures, the staff constantly communicates with each other in Czech, paying little attention to the procedure being performed by the patient. They allow themselves to communicate with each other even during such procedures as hydromassage, which is done directly by the nurse, and the patient is undressed at this time. So together the whole procedure is looking at you and chatting something in their own way. At the reception, the answers boil down to the principle, "I answered, what else do you need? " or "I don't know, it's not my job at all. " Russians in the hotel are clearly disliked. Elderly people are treated badly. Parents constantly complain to me about the attacks of nurses during the procedures. Their record of rudeness was broken by Bittnerova Jana. The attitude of the staff at "3+" to all vacationers, at "3-" to the Russians. Service in the style of "scoop", I would even say "SOVOCHISHISHER! ". Even money can't buy a smile. No one will scatter for you at any request. Somehow they asked for glasses in the room. We were told that this is strictly prohibited, because I can break them or steal them. Apparently it had to be taken from home. I ran around the whole hotel (the hotel has 2 restaurants, a club and a cafe). The waitress did not refuse only in the Vienna cafe. They probably forgot to tell her that I can break or steal these glasses. 17.07. 15 in the evening we decided to look into this beautiful Cafe Vienna. Nice terrace, decent coffee. Like everywhere, people ruin everything. A bald-headed, with a sparse hedgehog on his head, a waiter of about forty-five, we asked him to write down the bill to the number. The waiter looks at us questioningly. I repeat the request. The silence of the waiter and the disgruntled face. I’m waiting, nothing happens, the waiter’s face is getting more and more dissatisfied, I repeat the request, thinking that he doesn’t understand Russian well. I hear the dismissive tone of the waiter: "I understand, you did not say the room number. " I replied: "So you would ask. " The waiter, leaving: "What, should I have? " It seems to me that it should have. And you? No more foot in Vienna. You come to the procedures and it feels like you have torn people away from something sooo important. Oblique look. Sighs. Dissatisfied face. They put you in some kind of bath or give you an inhaler, or put you in the mud and continue your conversations with your colleagues at the top of your voice, occasionally looking behind the screen to check if you are dead. You lie naked in the bathroom, for some reason the nurses of the bathrooms are very furious for trying to get into the bathroom in bathing shorts. They say that it is forbidden, because mineral water harms the swimsuit. Bathroom caretakers are usually so busy talking to each other that they forget to go out into the hallway to pick up a patient for a procedure who arrives on time. The patient is indignant why he waits so long at the door, he is told that they were leaving, but he was late and generally a fool himself. At the same time, its procedure is reduced in time by 2 to 3 times. It's his own fault! In the inhaler, the old men suck on "disposable" tubes, tubes from which steam comes out, drooling into them, and who breathes through the nose, then other secretions. Maybe someone would have taught them how to use this device correctly, but after turning on the device, the employee immediately dumps somewhere and does not come out even at the end of the procedure to check if the device has been stolen or to ask if everything is in order. According to the eternally dissatisfied employee of this office, the tubes are changed after each procedure. But when you throw away a disposable napkin, which is used at least 2 per procedure, into the urn next to the device, you see a couple of tubes there, and half a basket of papers (50-100 pieces) and you understand that you are breathing someone’s saliva, acute respiratory infections and generally anything. (The main room is Koubkova Gabriella). One day I came as expected 5 minutes in advance for a massage. It's been a couple of minutes since the procedure is going on. I knocked on the door. AND. . . "don't knock on me!... " listened to a whole lecture about the fact that in general she herself knows when she should work! And that she never sits idle for a minute, and that I must never do that again. . I asked to change this hamlo to someone else, anyone, but, honestly, I doubt that there is an alternative to this service. (The head of the room remained unknown, since she did not put stamps in my book, like everyone else, but simply put a scribble by hand). There is only one caretaker in the pool / sauna / jacuzzi complex, and it would seem that everything works by itself and nothing can be spoiled. And nothing of the kind! Firstly, in order to save electricity, the jacuzzis work for 10 minutes, then they do not work for 15 minutes, because there is always a queue for them in the evening. Secondly, half an hour before closing time, caretakers sometimes turn them off altogether so that bored people leave the premises quickly, and they can leave work on time. In the "restaurant" Prague with Swedish, you go in, take food, put a plate on the table you like, the waitress Simona comes up and tells you, "Your misto f zadi, change over". At the table, God forbid you linger on chewing food for 2 minutes after the end of lunch or dinner according to the schedule! Exactly 2 minutes later, a sweet young lady in sandals named Simona will come up, gently tug on your shoulder and ask you to leave the room "for fifteen or so, we're hiding, you-want-tee shalustaa. " The waitresses are negotiating among themselves, shouting across the entire hall, the tablecloths are removed either brushing the crumbs on the floor, or shaking them out on the spot, scattering everything that stuck to them on the tables of the guests eating. Tablecloths are often dirty, forks are given, but you have to wait 20 minutes for them. The food, except for yesterday's half-eaten vegetables, which is clearly from the freezer, judging by the ice in the frozen cucumbers, is not bad. This is a plus. Although sometimes there is something baked in pots and for some reason they do not warn that sometimes they are red-hot. I often see how people take them with their hands and get burned. We took a trip to Prague. Everything is beautiful, I liked the city. On the square in the historical center there was a rally with banners "Russians - hands off Ukraine! ". I did not dare to argue with them, bypassed. Although there are quite nice people in the hotel with the proud name "Imperial". For example Dr. Novotny (Novotny), the nicest person. I consider his entertaining and therapeutic reception-consultation the best procedure of this hotel. I liked the massage from Vrzal Vitezslav and the physio from Pakostova Michaela. Highest ball for the waiter Freddy from the Imperial Club. The price also includes a lift (funicular) through an underground tunnel from water sources to the hotel. But these pluses in no way cover the cost of a two-week tour of 6.000 euros for two from St. Petersburg, which is 350.000 rubles! This year in India in Goa for 200.000 for two, he was licked and treated kindly at the Park Hyatt 5 * hotel. The price is twice as low. Service hotel "Imperial" I would rate a maximum of 2-3 stars. And for 350k it's better to drive to Fiji. Was once in Belokurikha in Russia last year. I paid 100.000 for two with a flight for 21 days. The service seemed average to me. But after the Imperial, I rate it at five plus! For the first time, for my own not small money, I feel like in a district clinic under the MHI policy! Choose. . .

And special thanks for the professional treatment. Doctors are attentive and caring. We returned home rested and rejuvenated! I advise everyone, you will not regret!

We are currently staying at this hotel. We have been to Karlovy Vary more than once - but for the first time with treatment. Before that, we repeatedly rested in the Marian Lazne (hotel Nove lazne) and Truskavets (hotel rixos).
The location of the hotel is excellent - in the forest, fresh air and a gorgeous view from the room are guaranteed. True, such a distance from the center of Karlovy Vary will create some problem for those who do not like hiking - as you will have to get to the springs on foot or by funicular. In general, a lot of walking is shown here - doctors unanimously advise. So be prepared for this mentally and physically.
Room (standard double): beautiful view from the balcony, plasma TV - about 10 Russian channels, large bathroom. Bad hair dryer, the safe is locked with a key - it is extremely uncomfortable, maybe you need to carry the key with you everywhere.
Meals (we had two meals a day in the Prague restaurant). Very limited range of food. From fresh vegetables - only cucumbers and tomatoes. There are no salads and cuts for dinner and lunch. The choice of hot dishes is also limited - usually chicken, pork and salmon. At the beginning it seemed that the food was dietary - but no... for the 2nd day already, half of the dishes for lunch were cooked in batter: pork schnitzel, chicken, even potatoes - and that in batter, zucchini in batter, eggplant...
dessert - each time only one kind and tiny pieces. Coffee for breakfast is disgusting, for lunch and dinner it is not at all... tea is also not so hot - packaged and not of the best quality))) an attempt to order brewed coffee or tea in a restaurant causes bewilderment among the staff... At the beginning, a senior waiter approaches you , then the manager - and, oh Gods, after 10 minutes of clarification, they will bring you brewed coffee or tea from the Vienna cafe. Oatmeal in the morning is not always tasty, there is no trace of cottage cheese - or rather, there is, but in our understanding it is sour cream))) from fruits - apples and oranges)) well, where else can you try cottage cheese casserole with pasta)))))) and porridge buckwheat with water... in general, solid "masterpieces" in the field of culinary art)))
The conclusion suggests itself: if you want to lose weight - you go to imperial, if not, you will have to go to dinner in the city or in a Paris restaurant.
The Paris restaurant has a better assortment - but it is only for those living in apartments or for an additional fee.
Cafe Vena is a great place, the only one on the territory of the hotel where delicious coffee is prepared... but they smoke everywhere in the cafe - and you can’t take coffee out into the lobby. Question: where to drink coffee for non-smokers, the hotel administration apparently does not care)))
Medical service: the procedures are ordinary, as in other water resorts, everything is clean and tidy and on schedule. True, in the first week, both my husband and I experienced complete chaos in the procedures: a very uncomfortable time was offered for the procedures - I had to completely not go either for breakfast or lunch - it was possible to sign up for another time only the next week. There were only two massages in the first week (and even then, on Monday-Tuesday), and the continuation - only the next week (on the other hand, every day in a row) - such chaos caused complete bewilderment. A similar situation with baths - 2 in the first week, and every day - in the second week. Moreover, a clear list of procedures required for you for the money you paid will not be given to you either at the reception or in the medical center - what is included in the cost of "treatment" you paid will remain a secret)))
It is strange that there is no single time for one procedure - why not appoint a hydromassage for 11 hours for the entire period of treatment ? ! No, on Wednesday you have hydromassage at 7 am, on Friday - at 14.30, and so on... And sometimes 2 water procedures are prescribed on the same day with a difference of 1 hour - hydrotherapy at 12, and hydromassage at 13? And then 2 days of no water procedures at all))) all this speaks of the poor organization of these services))) it is strange that vacationers talk about this among themselves, but openly express their indignation to the heads of the doctor or hotel managers either do not dare, then whether they don’t want to find out anything on vacation...
No free gym!! ! Only for a fee - a one-time visit of 300 kroons (this is about 12 euros). In addition, the gym is located in a separate building - you have to walk down the street, which is extremely uncomfortable in the cold season. The trainers are really great.
On the -1 floor there is a swimming pool and a dry sauna - that's the whole spa in Imperial... modest somehow for such a large hotel... You don’t have a relaxation area, or a wet sauna - but the aunt is strict at the entrance, without a spa book not allowed in the pool. . .
Entertainment: every evening in the club imperial there are musical evenings - the program is weak, for show. For example, on Tuesday - a belly dance, the performance lasted 25 minutes and consisted of 3 dances, one girl danced - only she changed costumes)) On Saturday, the disco is weak. In general, you will not find any fun here - however, as in the whole resort, because its purpose is treatment
Conclusion: Karlovy Vary is a great place, with beautiful nature and beautiful architecture. There are many shops with various Italian brands (although the prices are a bit off the charts - but the assortment is very good) the imperial hotel is a standard four, with a beautiful view, poor food and standard service. It is worth going here if you are tired of the bustle of the city, you want to walk a lot in the fresh air and improve your health, and the hotel is still old, the main contingent is the older generation, and the whole concept of the hotel is aimed at a relaxing holiday, so young people will be here quite boring, but you can safely send your parents here. By the way, the website of the imperial hotel is a complete advertisement... and they either print reviews themselves, or only post positive ones - we wrote a not very positive review at the beginning of the check-in, but it has not been posted on the hotel website so far... So , do not really rely on the beautiful descriptions and pictures posted there... advertising, advertising and more advertising.

True, we went to another room of the same category, it turned out to be quite small. We seem to be lucky. The fact that the hotel is located on a mountain did not bother me at all, but on the contrary, there was an opportunity to walk around and work out. If you are in a hurry or tired every 15 minutes, a funicular and two buses are at your service, travel in which according to resort books. Ate in the restaurant "Prague" on the buffet system. In general, everything is fine. The main thing in nutrition is dietary orientation. which did not prevent individual dishes from being very tasty. It was the other way around, but the taste and color. . . I liked the fact that every time there was a fish and its appearance was rarely repeated: salmon, tuna, pike perch, shark, carp, eel, river fish. Often there was seafood. We traveled by train to Karlovy Vary. Without going into details, I recommend going only to Prague, if anyone prefers this type of transport. Local railway transportation in the Czech Republic is a separate conversation. We've had adventures more than once. In general, we were satisfied with the trip. Young people at this time of the year were bored in the hotel, although enterprising people rested for pleasure: tours, fishing and hunting, tennis. I wish pensioners to be treated in this hotel, if you have the means. If you want to save money, then choose a cheaper hotel, because the main value of the resort - water and air do not depend on the category of the hotel.

But as they say, don't miss Homka, that's what the fair is for!
Well, as for me - the main drawback of the hotel -
location. Just some settlements! The funicular gets bored in a couple of days, and climbing mountains endlessly is also not very good. Therefore, many people almost did not go to drink water, although they came for it. The same water that is in the hotel is very high temperature and not suitable for everyone, me and my friends felt bad after it.
Karlovy Vary itself is a “bazaar-station”, everyone runs headlong shopping, and I don’t really like shopping, so I realized that I shouldn’t come to this city a second time.
Well, so that everything was not negative - I drove around Germany by car - I just fell in love with Munich, and on the way back I drove into Vienna - also a solid positive!

I want to share my impressions about the trip to Karlovy Vary in July 2010.
Hotel "Imperial" category 4 * - fully corresponds to its category in terms of service, food, sanatorium treatment. This hotel is quite in the spa category. The building and rooms have been renovated. The building itself is old, but equipped with almost everything modern. The only thing there is no air conditioners, and in the first days, during this abnormally hot, even for Karlovy Vars - summer, we really missed it !!! . Fortunately, the heat was for three or four days !!
The entire program of stay at the hotel is built on proper nutrition (about it in the nutrition section), procedures and physical activity (free hikes accompanied by a guide through the forest). Therefore, in fact, after 2 weeks, you feel an influx of energy and good health.
The location of the hotel.
Very good location - on the mountain, in the forest - a quiet and peaceful place, from almost all the rooms you can see the forest, unlike many other hotels that are located below, in the city, where there is a constant party of tourists, and this summer the facades of buildings and roads are being repaired .
Guests of the hotel can use the funicular for free, as well as buses to go down to the city.
Spa procedures, sanatorium treatment.
Basically, all the procedures that the doctor prescribes are more of a nature: relaxing, raising a good mood and slightly tempering the body. Upon arrival at the hotel, the doctor conducts a (superficial), examination + takes tests and prescribes these same procedures. Here you will be told what kind of cholesterol you have and if there are abnormalities in the blood (diabetes, etc. ). The most important thing, when you are prescribed these spa procedures and procedures, I recommend that you do not skip them, because in fact, as I already wrote, after a 2-week spa stay, you feel rest in body and soul. Basically, these are: pearl baths (with Jacuzzi mineral water), carbonic baths, massage, Pilates, swimming pool, hydrotherapy (also with mineral water), inhalations, pneumopuncture (gas injections to improve metabolism), and paraffin treatments for hands, feet and back.
Nutrition.
The food is varied, it is rather a Continental table, where everyone will find something to their liking. For example, there are dishes from beef, pork, chicken, fish at the same time for lunch. As well as broths, side dishes, desserts. What I liked is that many of the dishes are steamed, so you eat a lot and practically do not gain weight. Chef chef - respect, because all the dishes are delicious.
Currency.
Basically, in Karlovy Vary, the kroon is in circulation, so immediately change the euro to kroons (the exchange rate there is 25.2). Since not all establishments (pharmacies, sports clubs and car rentals) accept euros. But there are shops and tour agencies where you can buy even for dollars. Not far from the colonnade (landmark tour agency Renata) there is an exchange office where even rubles are exchanged, but the exchange rate is not profitable, 1.5 times more expensive than in Russia. In the same exchanger, the euro-krone, dollar-krone exchange rate is normal, without hidden%.
Excursions:
Excursions can be bought at the hotel, but they are 300 - 400 kroons more expensive, so I recommend buying in the city. There are no problems with buying tours from agencies in the city, because they have licenses, the buses are European, so they are quite comfortable, the guides are fluent in Russian, everyone in the travel agencies also speaks Russian.
We took the first excursion to Dresden - through the Kaleidoscope, the agency is located: pass the colonnade (downstream the Tepla River), pass the pharmacy, one building and behind it (against the bridge) turn left, then 150 meters and there will be an agency on the left side. In Dresden, we visited all the main places (the Gallery and the Grunes Museum. Grunes - I highly recommend, be sure to visit. ), The guide speaks fluent Russian, tells the story very interestingly and memorably. In general, I really liked the trip and the organization of the tour. The cost is 1080 kroons (or 1620 rubles in translation) per person
The second tour was taken in the tour agency "Renata", went to Prague. The impression left was disgusting, because the tour itself was not built successfully, we left late, went to the sights out of order, practically ran along the Charles Bridge and the square (but we stood for hours at some buildings that were not clear in history), so we really didn’t have time to do normal photo and enjoy the beautiful Prague, and in the end we were not even given free time to calmly look at the main monuments again and buy souvenirs. The guide was Larisa Dmitrievna (she herself is from Belarus) - I really do not recommend spoiling the rest and going with this guide.
In general, from Karlovy Vary to Prague you can take a regular bus to the final station Bus Station, which is a 20-minute walk from the center of Prague.
Rent a Car:
We rented a car from Victoria Khandrikova +42.775 66.826. Citroen 3 costs 2100 kroons (3150 rubles) for 1 day, 3600 kroons (5400 rubles) for 2 days. + gasoline, the cost of 1 liter - with our money 80 rubles + navigator 500 rubles. And a deposit of 200 euros. I recommend it, because it is very convenient, they called a day in advance and they brought you a filled car on time, they also took it on time, there is no need to go anywhere. There is a car rental near the colonnade, the prices are the same, you can also rent a car at the hotel, but the prices are high for 300-400 kroons more.
Purchases:
In Karlovy Vary, there is practically nothing to buy except for souvenirs (mugs and Becherevka). Clothing stores, including those with the "Hugo Boss" sign, are reminiscent of antiques, very old and expensive.
It is better to buy Swarovski jewelry in Prague in specialized stores that are in the center. There is more choice.
I also want to write about the Outlet in Prague, so as not to mislead people - this is not an outlet - but an impostor, more like a Chinese market, which is in every city. There are definitely no multi-brand clothes there, from cheap clothes like MEXX - models from the year before last, made in China, at high prices !!!
If you have thought up shopping, then it is better to rent a car and drive to Ingolstadt village, this is a German village 370 km from Karlovy Vary, where the outlet is located. I am very satisfied, I stayed with the purchases, because we got into the discount season and bought a lot of branded items at ridiculous prices for us. For example, Calvin Klein jeans - 3100 rubles (with our money), Hugo boss windbreaker jacket - 4200 rubles, Esсada jacket - 3800 rubles, etc.
I want to write about Tax Free - when buying in Germany and the Czech Republic, they took all checks and tax free, at the Karlovy Vary airport they returned taxes to us without any problems (within 5 minutes in cash) 200 euros. Checks d. b. correctly filled in the store and stamped. , then there will be no problems with the return.

I would not like to repeat the previous praiseworthy reviews, but in fairness, I must say that the hotel exceeded all our expectations - architecture, room, service, medical facilities - everything is at the highest level. And the bed was changed for us every 3 days (I was surprised to read that people were changed 1 time in 10 days), and there were almost no problems with the time of the procedures (having figured it out, for 3 days they began to walk on them in the way that was convenient for us - basically the medical staff went for a meeting, except for a massage - everything is clearly on time there, because, indeed, in the breaks between official massage sessions, men earn 400 "left" kroons). I don’t know, maybe with age we will choose more procedures, but so far even 3 procedures a day have been tiring - in terms of the fact that you are tied to the hotel and cannot escape to freedom-nature at any time : -).
But in any case - after lunch we were free and active rest began - almost all the resort "paths" of the highest and medium degree of difficulty (of which there are many in Karlovy Vary) were passed. Forests of inconceivable beauty surround the city from all sides - and what they just don’t have: mushrooms, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries... ! I think in autumn the locals go for mushrooms with braids! Even if in August we dried porcini mushrooms on the windowsill of the "Imperial" (at the same time, we did not specifically go for mushrooms) !! ! : -)) We went on a tour to Dresden (a city of amazing beauty), and to Prague, Marianske Lazne, Pilsen and other local towns - we went ourselves. Buses No. 2 and No. 13, which give the right to non-free travel for vacationers from the Imperial, go to the Trzhnice stop (something like that) - and there 5 minutes to the bus and railway station.
In short, our daily walks took a lot of energy - so the nightlife of Karlovy Vary remained unknown to us (and is it there ??? ) - but after an evening trip to the pool with a sauna and a jacuzzi (we went for an hour to 7 - it was only 2 -3 people) had enough strength for cocktails in the cafe "Vienna" or the club "Imperial". The undoubted advantage of the hotel is the provision of free Wi-Fi Internet access - however, the connection in the rooms was poor, but in the lobby and cafe - very decent.
For food, I put 4, although, to be honest, although for the first time in my life I ate dietary dishes (it’s easier for me not to eat at all, or to sit on fruits or kefir), but this is medical nutrition and most of us came, UNFORTUNATELY, to be treated - and from this point of view, the food was decent. I read in someone's reviews about tasteless pastries and I must disagree - the desserts seemed to me very tender. But a person who was assigned a strict diet No. 2, in the morning, apart from oatmeal, had nothing much to eat. Once a piece of wire was found in the bread and once there was mold on the plum cake. Little things - but the sediment remained. : -( How many I do not remember - this was not in any of the hotels in which we rested.
Rest in Karlovy Vary turned out to be very active, educational, health-improving and fabulous - thanks to the unique nature, friendly Czechs, and the royal "Imperial"!! !

I read a lot of negative reviews before going to this hotel. But when I arrived, I was convinced of the opposite. A chic hotel. You can see for yourself by going there. I have been vacationing in Karlovy Vary for fifteen years in a row. … More ▾ I read a lot of negative reviews before going to this hotel. But when I arrived, I was convinced of the opposite. For health reasons, any treatment is contraindicated for me; I would like to just drink some water and swim in the pool.
