But. . . on the first night we were attacked by. . . bugs! I don’t remember such horror from student dorms, the creatures were everywhere. in beds, on walls. Yes, a 14th century building, a former women's prison. but the bugs are too much. When we checked in, we got a room on the 6th floor, this is an attic. There is no elevator, after the 5th floor you have to climb a narrow steep staircase to the 6th and 7th floors. Asked to change room, they said. that there were no others, however, when we ran to the duty officer at night. Found 2 numbers. We moved into one. and the rest of the night, scratching, waiting for a new invasion, but it passed. Attempts to see the management or contact him did not lead to anything, no apologies followed, they left contacts to contact us, but silence. Apparently, their reputation is indifferent to them. Therefore, even a good location in the old city will not correct the impression. We will definitely go to Tallinn again, but not a foot to this hotel!

The hotel was chosen according to the principle: in the historical center and medieval flavor. I liked it very much.
The road from St. Petersburg: a comfortable bus "Eurolines" departs from the Baltic station. The bus is convenient: the Simple class (yellow color) went there, the Lux class (black) went back. Difference: black Wi-Fi and coffee machine.
The parking time at the border is minimal and depends only on the number of passengers.
The hotel is indeed located in a 14th century building on the main shopping street of the time. Near the Russian embassy,
Sweden and Spain. You don't have to worry about restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops - they are in every home.
Russian-speaking staff is caring and friendly. When checking in at the counter, a girl of Nordic appearance in the tone of a Valkyrie warned that if they were late for breakfast, they would not be fed, but these were the only harsh words that we heard during our entire stay. The porter Misha immediately appeared, dragging our suitcases, showing the way to the room.
The color of the hotel is not sham. This is a medieval style in everything except plumbing and TV. Narrow stairs and corridors, furniture and paintings fascinate and tune in
anticipation of adventure and discovery. The first impression is very strong and, of course, positive, subsequent experience may somewhat reduce this ardor, but not refute it. For ourselves, we decided that we were ready to stay at this hotel on our next trip.
Surprisingly good breakfast. Having visited two dozen small urban European hotels and motels, I can say that I have never had such a good breakfast anywhere. Resort and beach hotels do not count - there sizes and requirements are different.
Special praise for the restaurant, which is open from 13:00 to 23:00. Prices are lower than in other institutions of the historical center, the quality of cooking is very decent.
However, it is impossible not to point out a few pitfalls that you need to be aware of when choosing this hotel.
First, there is no elevator. It is not easy for an elderly person to get into the attic on the 6th - 7th floor.
Secondly, there is no air conditioning. Sleep with open windows. By the way, this is not a rare occurrence in Northern European hotels of this class, even more modern ones.
Thirdly, some (small) part of the rooms do not have windows on
street, which makes them unattractive and, perhaps, stuffy.
Fourthly, good audibility in the attic rooms.
General conclusion: to plunge into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages for three or four days is quite within your power if you are looking for vivid impressions and do not want to leave the city center. (And there is nothing to see on the outskirts. )
