Beware of reviews!!!

Hello, dear friends, like-minded people and travelers!

My husband and I love to travel, we have been to Sri Lanka, Turkey and Egypt 17 times.

Many years ago, after a couple of “first pancakes lumpy”, full of cones, unsuitable hotels, spoiled vacation, I discovered reviews, incl. and on this site. I am very grateful to the sincere and informative authors who honestly and in detail help to make a choice of a resort, hotel, excursion, etc. In many ways, the success of a holiday depends on the right choice. Thank you!!!

Sometimes the reviews are written in such detail that when you arrive at the hotel, you know how many steps in which direction you need to go to the sea, the names of the best bartenders and waiters and the full menu for dinner)))) Honest reviews do not hide shortcomings. After reading about the shortcomings, the future tourist can analyze whether they are of decisive importance for him or whether he can turn a blind eye to this. For example, the lack of a fresh renovation or not a very large selection of dishes are not as important to me as the lack of living creatures in the sea, the rudeness of the staff and poisoning in the restaurant. And for another tourist, food is a priority or the presence of slides and a warm pool.

In many hotels, hoteliers began to read reviews. This gives them the opportunity to optimally realistically assess their weaknesses and strengths and quickly eliminate shortcomings.

I started to leave reviews myself, because. I really want our people to spend their non-rubber vacation for endless money as cool as possible.

The situation has developed in such a way that I can not write about it. In May of this year, my colleagues and I rested in Marsa Alam, the Sunrise Marina Resort Port Ghalib 5 * hotel. The hotel was chosen according to a very high rating, I looked at it before, when it was still part of the Rehana chain, the rating was very good, so I didn’t really read the latest reviews.

And in vain. The hotel revealed a number of significant, but in general, reparable shortcomings, the correction of which does not even require costs. But there were shortcomings, and I tried to write about it objectively:

  • The lack of shampoo, conditioner and other accessories in the rooms of the 5* hotel, except for liquid soap;
  • Electricity breakdowns, lack of hot water, other minor flaws in the rooms that took a long time to fix;
  • Swans on a bed of dirty and wet used towels;
  • A little short on services, etc.
  • I will not describe it in detail, it's all in the review, as you yourself understand that it was impossible to remain silent about it. I would not like to receive letters from future tourists, on the topic, what are you, an idiot, wrote that this is paradise, but there is not even shampoo here. The disadvantages and advantages are described, and tourists decide for themselves whether it is too important for them and whether to take shampoo with them))))

    Tourists who looked after this hotel wrote to me and asked practical questions.

    But here comes a new detailed and objective review with a low score of another tourist who had a similar impression of the hotel, and she honestly wrote about it. Those. nothing particularly terrible, but the hotel has flaws and they should be eliminated.

    Then the most interesting thing happens: between our reviews with her and above them, more new reviews with a score of 10 points, 5 lines in size, appear. The rating of the hotel soars even more. Their main message is the following: absolutely everything is just super in the hotel, and especially ANIMATION. Often out of 5 lines of a total review, 3-4 are about super animation. One review directly contains the name of the animation team.

    And then I begin to delve into what is happening. The TURPRAVDA website is very easy to use. It is worth hovering the mouse over the “nickname” of the tourist who wrote the review or question, and you will find yourself in his personal account. It contains all his reviews, stories, questions, answers and photo albums. It is always interesting for me to go to the author’s personal account if a review or a photo interested me in something, at least from a positive, at least from a negative side. You immediately understand where else the person was, what he compares with, etc. Useful.

    All of these Super Animation reviews are written by authors who only have this review. Hence a very unpleasant conclusion: either these reviews were written by hotel employees or animators, or at their request. If the hotel workers, then it's terrible. Rating is everything, why bother fixing flaws when you can just throw bad reviews with 10 points. But it seems to me that if, relatively speaking, tourists complain about the cleanliness of the toilet, then you just need to wash it, and not write about “super animation”. And the shortcomings of the hotel are not so significant as the lie is disgusting.

    Another situation. Restaurant, bar, animation staff approach me in almost all hotels and ask me to leave a positive review indicating their name. I know for sure, from the words of hoteliers, that in many hotels workers are rewarded for this. I mention the name of the employee in the review only if he really deserved it. By writing an unreasonable laudatory review, we may take responsibility for the spoiled vacation of the following tourists. I ask tourists to take this issue seriously and not engage in excessive altruism. After all, you may someday be in my place. Write honestly and reasonably. Each of your ratings is a hotel rating. People, are you really going to the Red Sea because of the animation????

    To conclude, I want to say that I specifically looked at ALL the reviews for ALL Marsa Alam hotels on this site. And do you know how many other hotels with similar reviews in 5 lines “Everything hurts, especially animation” I found? Zero. Draw your own conclusions and be very careful. This is your vacation and your money.

    Have you, dear friends, had similar cases? Please share your experience. Give advice, how do you determine the objectivity of reviews for yourself?

    I wish you all a great holiday and honest positive feedback!!!!
