There are too many complaints for 5 *, but everything is in order (I hope the small details will help you with your choice) ...
We had a family vacation (2 adults + 1 child (10 years old)). The hotel was recommended by a friend who was there 3 years ago and he liked everything very much. I myself was in Hurghada 4 times, so there is something to compare. The hotel area is really large, landscaped, enough greenery (at the same time, there was no smell of "sewer" fertilizers at all). You can freely use the entire infrastructure of 5 more Golden 5 hotels, which are located near each other, including the free water park of the Diamond Hotel (there are few slides, but at least some entertainment for children). From Paradise to the sea 600-700 meters, at a leisurely pace 7-8 minutes. The beach is sandy, the entrance is gentle, near the shore there are small coral islands, where there are a lot of fish (it is interesting for children with a mask, flippers to see).
Until 10 - 10:30 in the morning, both on the beach and by the pool, you can always (if you try) find free sunbeds, and if you go to the water before 9 - no problem at all. Animators practically did not work with adults (monotonous: club dance, aqua aerobics, dance courses, primitive evening amateur shows with vulgar jokes), they did not work with children AT ALL! After the nightly street discos, the pools were not cleaned, all the garbage floated in the water. The food in the hotel restaurant is basically normal (traditional in Egyptian), from fruits: melon, apples, pears, grapes, dates, oranges, watermelon - 1 time per week), in general there was no great variety (especially in the morning), but did not go hungry. It’s not easy to get to a la carte restaurants: an appointment at the reception at 10 am “for the day after tomorrow”, and then if there are seats. There were always free “mixed restaurant” (grill of different cuisines of the world on the street) and “Russian” (where you can eat normal mashed potatoes with decent meatballs and goulash).

In Topaz (a hotel of the same chain, but across the road on the second line) we went to a “Turkish restaurant”, there was nothing special there, but we waited (first ordering dishes, and then serving them) for an indecently long time. The public restaurants of each of the 6 hotels can be safely used by all guests (if you are not too lazy to go). In the bars before lunch and after daily light snacks in the cellar: hamburgers, sausages, pizza, donuts, french fries, tea, coffee. I was surprised by the hotel's frivolous understanding of the term "all inclusive" in relation to alcohol - beer was poured into small plastic cups (very similar to our disposable glasses) for about 100-130 ml. (and this is with foam! ... those who appreciate beer will understand me), strong drinks (rum, whiskey, brandy, etc.
) into the same glasses, but by about 1/3, and at the same time they gave out only two glasses per person (I don’t drink much, but when I have already paid for everything, and some bartender tells me “I won’t give it anymore ”, this outrages me ... all the more so since this same bartender is ready to calmly sell a bottle of 0.7 of the same whiskey for 30 pounds). The hotel itself looks very worn inside now: it seems that there are paintings and mirrors, gilding on the walls, carpets on the floors, but everything is somehow shabby, shabby, dull, carpets with abundant dirty spots. The elevator did not work (the hotel is five-story). Everything in the rooms is standard, but again: everything is very worn out (a few days before departure, the door fell off the closet). During the days of stay, the lights were turned off several times throughout the hotel (i. e. , the music by the pool died down, the water turned off everywhere, the slides in the water park were closed).
The rooms were cleaned daily, but of poor quality, the attitude of the staff was indifferent, the requirements of the service were either not met at all or were performed extremely slowly. For example, according to the rules of the hotel, it is free of charge: 1 bottle per day. water for 1 adult. and 1 juice per 1 child, 1 life. cola for everyone a week, but according to the same rules, they bring it all a week in advance (i. e. , a whole battery at a time) - so that's what in the first, that in the second week I had to repeatedly contact both the reception and the guide ( Pegasus - Tourist) so that they still bring drinks. Initially, there was no set of bed linen for the child (although there was a cot), somehow they got it - they brought it, but no matter how much I told the cleaner, administrator, guide, I never managed to bring the third set of towels (from the beginning to the end there was only 2): all employees smile, reassure (they say, “sorry, we’ll fix everything”), but immediately slaughter the demands.
From the entertainment on the territory there is: billiards for free 1 time for coupons that are issued at the reception (if you cheat, you can play on different days, sometimes they forget to write it down, and so the table costs $ 5 per hour). We rented bicycles with our family (10 dollars per hour for each) and rode around all the hotels. I use the services of Pegasus not for the first time, but the guide this time was simply no, spoiled the whole attitude towards the company. In general, if you do not pay attention to some troubles, then rest is acceptable: food is normal (not poisoned), the weather is good (air +37, water +32), even a child calmly endured the heat, the territory is well-groomed, BUT ALL HOTELS OF THIS SYSTEM (club " Golden Five") is clearly and absolutely NOT 5*! ! ! I bought a ticket in March, there was a good discount for early booking, so in principle I don’t really regret it (for that kind of money “it will go with beer”), but if I bought it for its real cost, and even a month before departure, I was very disappointed.

By the way, I recommend taking a closer look at the Simbad hotel club, EVERYTHING is much better there, although 4 *. The last advice for beer lovers: take fish, cheese, croutons with you - there are only chips, seeds and peanuts from beer snacks. Good luck to all!
