Good afternoon! We rested at the hotel together from May 8-15.2013. I want to share my personal impressions of the rest. I will try to describe in more detail for those who are in Egypt for the first time.
So, we arrived in Hurghada at 23.00 (local time). Anex tour transported us. Flights were on time, flights were not delayed. I didn’t really like that the visas from the tour operator cost $ 17 instead of 15, to my question, why? - they didn’t answer anything, so as not to delay the queue. Anyway. We arrived at the hotel around 12 at night, we were settled quickly, they gave a good room in the central part of the hotel, they did not leave any money to the administrators. In the dark, we didn’t see everything right away, but we should have... the bathroom was not cleaned at all . . With claims to relocate, we returned to the reception, they, however, apologized and gave another room, next to the first one. It already smelled good, it was clean, all the light bulbs and sockets worked. We took the Standard room, the furniture is not super new, but everything is clean and tidy. Every day they gave me a bottle of water. By the way, keep in mind that in Egypt 4 * hotels are different from the European four. Only liquid soap is allowed in the bathroom, and take shampoos, shower gels, toothpastes with you. They clean well, we left 1 dollar each. Although they forgot once, they cleaned up no worse!
In the morning we went to an information meeting, met our guide - Isam - this is our lifesaver for the whole vacation! A great person, they turned to him almost every day, he listened very carefully and explained everything. Very friendly! We signed up for two excursions: the first one was to Luxor (they took the largest one for 85 dollars / person) - I liked it very much, though it was tiring. If you go with the expectation of buying souvenirs, take them from the Egyptians near the sightseeing places, it is much cheaper there and bargain! An experienced tourist bought 4 figurines from us (a cat, Nefertiti, Tutankhamen, etc. ) for 5 dollars, and we, in the store where we were brought, bargained for one of the same for 5, although they called the price 30 dollars! In the same store, a set of medium-sized goblets made of stone costs $65, while in these markets they were taken for $15. And shawls and scarves were even offered for $1. When you leave the territory of the hotel, there is such an unpleasant feeling, as if they want to "extort" all the money from you and deceive you wherever possible)) If you didn't have time to buy it, don't worry, there are souvenirs for every taste at the Egyptian airport and cheaper than in hotel stores . Upon arrival (this is approximately 22.30) we had a late dinner in the lobby bar.
The second tour was called Super Utopia ($60 / person) - generally super! We rode on a tablet, a banana, swam at a depth of 20m (masks and fins are given out), had a delicious lunch, went fishing and at 17.00 were already at the hotel.
The minimum price for excursions from the operator is $ 25, local ones are cheaper, but excursions are easier.
We were satisfied with the excursions. Guides and accompanying representatives from Anex too. True, Ahmed is not happy. By the way, who is traveling from Pegasus - the guide was unlucky, they heard how she communicates with tourists... I sympathize.
As for the sea, there is no limit to delight - the sea is clean, I saw my pedicure at a depth : )) Sandy beach, no special shoes are needed, ordinary flip flops are enough. You can see all the fish on the pier, even if you don't snorkel! The water is clear and very salty! There are two showers and a toilet close to the pier. Also, a camel Maxim rides on the beach, which you can stroke and feed with a bun))) The only thing, in the first days of arrival, when there was still a peak of tourism, it was problematic to find a sunbed in the center of the beach even at 06 in the morning. After May 10, many left and it was not a problem to get a place. We had several cases when we took a seat and left to eat, and "educated" tourists simply threw towels insolently and "stealed" our sun loungers, we already put a large stone on top so that the wind would not blow it away, but returned - found our own a towel in a nearby place, it is not clear where the sunbeds are, and after 7 meters the stone is already on someone else's sun lounger! They were very indignant, but, as they say, not caught, not a thief)) So be careful, people are different. Things were left, nothing was lost. The beach is cleaned regularly.
I liked the food, in principle, there is a choice of vegetables, dressings, salads. Meat is not much, tasty cooked in the evening on the grill. There is fish, squid, excellent sweets. Fruits were melon, grapefruit, oranges, dates, watermelon. "Juice-yupi" did not drink. Well done waiters! They run and try to serve everyone. Tipping was occasionally left. We expected a little more, but as we found out after talking with tourists from other hotels (5 *), the food is practically no different, which, of course, surprised me. There is enough food for everyone, they came even late, that they sorted it out, they brought everything, the queues were only in the first half an hour. The restaurant is not luxurious, but it cannot be called a dining room either. I heard how vacationers broke dishes, the staff cleaned and did not say anything. Also, the girl forgot her handbag at the table, so the administrator ran after her to give it back. We went to a free dinner in an Italian restaurant, to be honest, we didn’t like it, there was a good salad with mozzarella and bruschetta. Part of the order did not wait, an hour later we went to dinner at the main restaurant)) We were not in the fish restaurant.
The territory of the hotel is very well-groomed, beautiful and clean, I have not seen garbage anywhere, everything blooms and smells)) The pool is clean, the water is not cold. There is a small zoo and a so-called botanical garden with a fountain, something like a greenhouse, which is also beautiful. The territory is quiet in the evening, there is a daily disco in the Rotana cafe, there is also live music. Who loves a noisy party and fun until the morning, it’s better not to go here, this hotel is more suitable for a family vacation, where no one interferes with anyone. And if you don’t have extra money, take a bottle of vodka with you, exchange it for souvenirs or something else.
I really liked the guys animators, all cool! We don’t have children, but we went to children’s animation in the evening, an interesting selection of music and it’s fun to watch)) Once there was a paid disco on the beach ($ 5 / person), it’s a shame that this evening there was no adult “free” animation, which is also fun ))
Separately, I want to note Isam, Amir, Bilal, Dasha - super people, we even miss them! )))
We left at 19:00 and got our room at 12:00. Things were handed over to the storage room, and they themselves went swimming. No one took off our bracelets and towels were handed over only when we left. We managed to have lunch and dinner, and no one said a word. At the reception in such cases they give a free room to wash in the evening, but on this day there was a very big check-in, there was some kind of local conference with journalists, etc. , everything was busy, we were told to contact the local spa salon, there we they were well received, they gave towels, took them to the shower and didn’t even want to take money in gratitude, this is the first time in Egypt : ))
On the way to the airport, we were taken to an oriental sweets shop, where they accept money in any currency, including hryvnias. There is also tea - all kinds (packaged in small packages), and Turkish delight, and spices such as saffron, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, etc. Goods at moderate fixed prices.
In general, I liked everything very much, there were small flaws, but these are all trifles that are everywhere. The price-quality ratio is excellent! I would come here again with pleasure!
