This year we were lucky to choose the coldest week for our vacation, and even in winter Hurghada! The week before our arrival, the weather was very warm. A strong and mostly cold wind blew during most of the stay at the hotel. But the sun roasted all day so that it was almost impossible not to burn out. The day before our departure, on Sunday, the wind began to calm down and the temperature of the water in the sea allowed me to enter at least knee-deep. According to all the forecasts of Google and the local population, good weather should be established from Monday. But we won't see it anymore.

I don’t know how there are all sorts of Rixos with Steinbergers (maybe we will someday swing at them too), but Dana Beach Resort struck me with its scale. I don't like big hotels, but this one is huge compared to any I've ever been to. There are a lot of flowers and other various plants on the territory.

Lawns that are really looked after, because there are no bald spots anywhere, as in many other hotels. All buildings and structures look brand new, as if they were built specifically before our arrival. If this is what renovation looks like, then this is a fairly high-quality renovation, and not cosmetic, as in many other hotels.

During our stay in the buildings that are closer to the beach, repairs were going on. No construction waste so beloved by the Egyptians on the territory, no particularly noisy work at night (unlike our neighbors from above). The technical achievements of the renovation are that the light in the room works without a card (in fact, there is no need to insert a room key card somewhere), and a mini-board “clean in the room / do not disturb” instead of paper clippings on the door.

Daily fairly high-quality cleaning of the room.
Yes, they brought less bathroom cosmetics than we would like, but bottled water is plentiful. If desired, you can take any amount in any bar. There are tea facilities in the room, and the minibar is replenished with a bottle of fanta or cola of your choice. The room itself is very large compared, again, with other hotels. We had three beds and an armchair at our disposal, despite the fact that this is a standard room. The bathroom has two sinks and a large illuminated mirror. In the shower compartment, you can easily hold foam parties.

Of course, the biggest in the literal and figurative sense of the word "highlight" of the hotel is an artificial river flowing through the territory. A boat runs along the river, which can take you from the reception building to the beach. Travel time is about 5 minutes, and you can walk almost the same distance on foot in 10 minutes.
Along the way of the boat there is an artificial island, on which there are two large restaurants, a heated pool (the second one is near the reception) and two large jacuzzis. There are several fountains in the riverbed. In the evening, the entire river is illuminated in different colors. There are quite a lot of different kinds of fish in the river, and in the evenings, shoals of fish swim out to admire the illumination, leaving people spellbound to admire the cycle of fish.
In general, the concept of food Dana Beach Resort is quite original.

The hotel does not have any a la carte restaurants, nor, as is customary, the main restaurant. Instead, hotel guests can choose which of the on-site restaurants they wish to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are four such restaurants in total, one of them is temporarily closed. The assortment of these restaurants is almost the same, but there are some differences.
For me, the food turned out to be one of the disadvantages of this hotel, my wife liked everything (especially the soups).

We usually had breakfast at the Castello restaurant (on the island), and dined at the Oriental restaurant (opposite the reception). The set of food is the same for all hotels in Egypt. For breakfast: yogurt, pancakes, eggs, falafel, french fries, milk rice or porridge, cheeses, sausages, sausage (in principle, it is impossible to eat sausage and sausages). In addition to this standard set, the Castello restaurant offers a variety of fresh juices or smoothies for breakfast. During our stay, these were: banana with milk, melon and hibiscus. Dinner is standard: vegetables and dressings for them, two types of soups, strictly one type of fish, strictly one type of chicken, one or two types of beef, french fries, pasta, fruits, sweets. Sometimes they had strawberries for dinner. At the Oriental restaurant, we caught my favorite Egyptian kyufte cutlets a couple of times, awesome meatballs with vegetables, vemicelli rice (also an Egyptian dish) and lentil soup.
Almost at any time from morning to evening, you could come up and pick up as much as you could carry. It is clear that the children actively used it. And another undoubted plus is that most bars (with the exception of the bar on the beach) are open from 10 to 24 hours.

The hotel beach is very large. Umbrellas, sun loungers - everything is brand new. There are windbreaks. On the left side, if you face the sea, there is a bar with a terrace, where you can have lunch or just drink coffee. Behind the bar begins the pier of the neighboring hotel Sunrise. Dana Beach Hotel's private pier with boat dock is located on the right side of the beach. In the summer, vacationers from two more hotels are brought to this beach. Now the right side is practically deserted, except for rare visitors to the diving center. All life is concentrated on the left side, closer to the bar. There is also a playground for animators and a towel center.
Sufficiently cool water in the sea and a strong wind made a long stay on the beach uncomfortable, even despite the barriers from the wind. Therefore, usually, having refreshed ourselves at the bar, we moved to the island - closer to the Castello restaurant and the heated pool. It turned out that the hotel buildings are well protected from the wind and it was very comfortable near the pool. The only thing missing was a towel center so you don't have to carry wet towels to your rooms.

The absolute advantage of Dana Beach Resort is free Wi-Fi throughout. Internet access was even on the beach and in the rooms, which in principle is a rarity for Egypt. Of course, he did not always pull out video calls via viber, but surfing the Internet and exchanging text messages went off with a bang.

In general, the hotel left a very pleasant impression. The food was a little off.
Now there is a crisis in all hotels in Egypt and we understand that the first thing hotels can save on is food. On the other hand, the crisis in the tourism industry as a whole could somehow affect the prices of tours, allowing us, even in the middle of winter, to relax for a week in a hotel, the average price tag of which is usually $ 1.500 per person. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
