We rested in Egypt for 2 weeks in May 2013. .

A tour in this hotel for two cost 9300 UAH. ($1135), with a departure from Kyiv. Given the cost, there were no significant shortcomings. We did not give any money at check-in and placed us in the corresponding room, on the first floor overlooking the fence of the neighboring hotel. We were given 2 bracelets each: 1 - from the Festival Riviera hotel, 2 - Festival Le Jardin.

They fed normally, there were: fruits (oranges, dates, grapefruits, lemons, melons, several times watermelon and bananas drenched in syrup), vegetables in all their diversity, always meat (mostly chicken in several forms and once a day beef), fish, squid, garnish - pasta, spaghetti, french fries and underbaked potatoes and other vegetables, very good pastries and pies with filling. The only thing is not very friendly staff. The A La Carte restaurant did not surprise with anything, the portions are small, there is not much choice, they cook poorly (they took sushi and soup with seafood). The main restaurants of the "Festival" are much better.
Differences between Jardin and Riviera were not felt.

The room was cleaned every day, no extra money was given for it either. From time to time I had to remind the cleaner not to forget to put water on.

As for the beach...It is very far to go to the depth, 300 meters. In some places there are stones, it is better to take coral slippers (it cost $ 4, you could bargain even cheaper). On the territory of the neighboring hotel, there is a long pontoon, from which you immediately get to the depth and you can dive. Several times we hit it, but then the lifeguard of the neighboring hotel stopped letting us in. There are fish, but very few, you don't need a mask there, there's not much to see...

Taxis at the hotel and on the street near it are very expensive. No one wants to take one way and they don’t bargain much. To the Dahar area (Down Town) and back they offer for $ 8, to the port of Marina - $ 15, to El Gouna - like 20.

On the way, there is public transport right next to the hotel.
There are no stops. You have to slow down on the track. Although there are no problems with this, everyone stops, both those who need it and those who don’t. Everyone wants to earn extra money. It is necessary to bargain. The normal cost to Dahar for 2 is 5 pounds (less than a dollar).

Near the terminus in Dahar there are:

- a large Orthodox Coptic church (during organized excursions, only a small room is opened, located in the basement of a neighboring annex, the most interesting is not shown; when you yourself - you go wherever you want) 5 minutes walk,

- aquarium - 15 minutes walk (if you ask where it is, it is better to focus on the Triton Empire hotel, it is practically near it). Entrance to the aquarium 15 pounds, for the photo - another + 5 pounds.

Also in Dahar, right next to the terminus, there is a large local food market.

I didn't particularly like the Sheraton Central Street. In about 20 minutes on foot you can reach the promenade, called Marina.

Very beautiful, clean and modern place with bright oriental architecture, restaurants and luxury yachts. There were practically no people, there were no molesting Arabs and Bedouin beggars.

Behind the embankment is a large fish market and in front of it is the Aldahar Mosque. You can enter the territory through gate No. 1 (it seems to be on the right side) and provided that the service is not being held. Women are given a hijab that completely covers the body, arms, legs and head. You can go inside the mosque, you can take pictures.

The cost of a minibus within the central regions of Hurghada is 1 pound, a taxi is 1-2 dollars.

Also outside Hurghada is the small town of El Gouna, which is built on small islands connected by canals between which bridges are laid. El Gouna is called the "Egyptian Venice". Very beautiful place, especially the area of the Marina promenade.
The town is built in a modern oriental style, everything is clean and luxurious. Resort for rich people. There are also many green golf courses here, which are considered among the best in the East.

We went to El Gouna by bus, the cost is 7 pounds (1 dollar) per person. The bus passes right by the hotel, it takes 30-40 minutes to go (they eat somewhere until 1 am). Near the final stop in El Gouna there is a tourist information center where they gave us a map for free. Auto rickshaws run along El Gouna, the cost of which is 5 pounds per person, regardless of direction.

We also traveled to Luxor on our own. Much more informative, interesting and cheaper than going on an excursion, you can feel the whole flavor of the country.

The bus station in Hurghada is located in Dahar, on the main street. You have to buy tickets on the bus itself. The schedule is written near the cash desk, but it does not correspond to reality, it is necessary to clarify.
We got up at 6 am and in 10 minutes everything was ready.

We visited the Karnak temple, the entrance is 65 pounds, for students 30 (in general, everywhere for students visiting attractions is 2 times cheaper, you need to take or make a student one). We did not go to the Luxor temple, it is not so large and grandiose, we did not want to waste time and money (50 pounds). It can be walked around from all sides and examined.

For travel in minibuses in Luxor paid 1 pound for two.

They traveled across the Nile by boat for 4 pounds there, back for 3 pounds for two. Again, you have to bargain.

In the city of the dead, they hired a car for 3 hours for 25 pounds. We were taken to the Colossi of Memnon (free admission), to the Valley of the Kings and back. On the way we made several stops and in the Valley of the Kings the driver waited for us for a little more than an hour. A visit to the three tombs of the kings in the Valley of the Kings costs 80 pounds, the Temple of Hatshepsut - 30 pounds, the Valley of the Queens - 35 pounds (for students, again 2 times cheaper)
Ate in Luxor at local pizzerias. The cost of a pizza is 30-35 pounds. For lunch, we took half a grilled chicken, french fries, rice, salad, tortillas, sauce. They paid 35 pounds for everything. Drinks were taken from supermarkets. The cost of 1 liter of juice is from 3 to 11 pounds, depending on the fruit and manufacturer. Loved the guava juice.

The bus station (it's loudly said, just a stop and a ticket office) is located near the railway station, on the right side, 3 minutes walk. We drove back in the evening, the flights were at 19-00 and at 20-00.

The budget of the trip, including travel, accommodation, meals, entrance tickets to attractions - a little less than $ 100 for 2 days. For comparison, a one-day tour to Luxor for 1 person through Anekstur 85 dollars.

We also took excursions to the beach at the diving center near the hotel.
For $125 for two: diving - all day, ATV trip in the desert and camel riding (it all took 5 hours with delivery) + a gift of an individual 2-hour boat trip with snorkeling on the reefs; -)
