"CALIMERA - there are always two sides to a coin"
……….....""""I can't feel you anymore. Something has changed in you or in me. In us. I walk along your dusty roads along the desert, I walk slowly, I walk alone, the September sun gradually falls over the sea, and I try to understand what has changed in you, what has become wrong in you, my distant, my close post-revolutionary restless Egypt. Why are you so intensely pretending that nothing has happened and is not happening, you just smile, I smile back at you, but I’m a little sad from the knowledge that I won’t return to you anymore. After all, with you we had love at first sight, or rather from the first trip""""""…. …........
START. We landed on a morning flight to Hurghada on September 16th. Ahead was 14 days of life here. I go down the ladder, a dry hot wind hits my face, I overcome the last obstacles to my goal, which is to obtain a visa, fill out a migration card, passport control and baggage claim. We get on the Pegasus bus. We drove to the hotel for about 40 minutes, stopping 4 times, dropping off tourists, our hotel was the last one.

SETTLEMENT. Rating 5. We were settled quickly and half an hour earlier than expected by the standard. Passports traditionally had 20 c. u. I knew that the hotel was large and there were many villas and bungalows on the territory, and if it was free, then they settled there, but there was no balcony and a view of some kind of bush. Therefore, we got room 710 in the main building, with a balcony and a beautiful view of the whole territory and the sea.
ROOM. Grade 3+. Very weak small room and completely unjustified extra charge for it… Ridiculous closet that is waist high to me, odd-looking hair dryer that looks like a vacuum cleaner that heats but does not dry, half-broken balcony door closing with the sound of a rushing train, hard mattresses, complete absence of accessories in the shower and, in fact, an old, almost broken shower. All this is not important for me, but our friends on other floors had completely normal rooms and they did not pay extra for them. So I summarized from that that we were just unlucky. Do not take room 710. But the excellent rooms (those without surcharges) are 325.525. On the plus side: the room had an empty mini-bar, a TV with 3 Russian channels, and a properly working air conditioner.
FOOD. Rating 5. In Kalimera, meals started at 7 am with breakfast, and ended after midnight with a late dinner in the lobby. The food was plentiful and tasty, but the breakfast was rather meager compared to lunch and dinner. For breakfast every day there was an omelette, scrambled eggs, toast, sausages, cheese, pancakes. On the 4th day, this set is there and we could no longer see it, so at breakfast we drank coffee and ate bread or buns with honey or jam. Lunches and dinners were quite varied and very plentiful. Moreover, the staff tried to make dinners thematic, but this was not particularly noticeable in terms of taste. Every day there was meat, chicken, fish. Lots of salads, pickles, side dishes, etc. They gave pizza, ice cream, french fries. In parallel with the main restaurant, Karnak was fed almost the same way at the beach bar.
ANIMATION. Rating 4. Very active big animation team. The animation program focused mainly on the Germans, but sometimes Russian-speaking members of the team translated for us. Bulgarian Zernitsa, Kenyan Peter, chief animator Amia, Kazakh, Ukrainian Christina are the brightest animators. The animation started every day at 10 am at the beach bar and ended with an evening show in the amphitheater. Unfortunately, the guys did not differ in special talent, but attracted them with their activity and good attitude towards children.

TERRITORY / INFRASTRUCTURE. Grade 5. The hotel has a large area stretched out to the sea. Kalimera has one main building, as well as villas located perpendicular to the sea. We had a room in the main building, so it took about 10 minutes to walk to the sea. There are 4 swimming pools + 1 for children, 3 bars + 1 lobby bar, 2 a la carte restaurants (Italian and Oriental, pre-registration at the reception) + 1 main " Karnak”, several shops (leather, carpets, souvenirs, gold, watches, etc. ), spa + fitness, bazaar, billiards, currency exchange, paid safe at reception, photographer, taxi (hotel-Old Town- hotel $6), artist (oil $50, pencil $30), surfer school (on the beach), tennis courts, etc. The hotel area is green, beautiful and very well maintained. I will not describe, you can just look at my photos. There is nowhere to leave the hotel, only to the pharmacy, which is literally 100 meters from the hotel (the seller understands Russian quite well).
SEA. Rating 1. Now I can say this phrase, which frightened and repulsed me in previous reviews of other tourists. THERE IS NO SEA IN KALIMERA!...... Not everything is so radical, but still it is almost true. The sea was sometimes, it arrived after lunch, but in the morning it was possible to swim only from the pier. The water is not very clean (because of moored yachts), the underwater world is poor. The absence of the sea left an indelibly unpleasant imprint on my vacation.
STAFF. Rating 5. The staff does their job, everyone is busy with their own business. I didn’t particularly notice a discriminatory attitude towards Russian tourists, but they frankly love the Germans. The staff is very poorly understood and speaks Russian.
CONTINGENT OF HOLIDAYERS. Rating 5. The spread of tourists is approximately the following: 70% Germans, 20% Russians + Slavs, the remaining 10% are British, Dutch and locals.
WEATHER. Rating 5. The weather was just excellent. I was very afraid of the September midday heat, but still I took the risk of going to Egypt at this time and did not lose. The air temperature was about +35 +38 degrees, the saving proximity of the sea and a fairly strong wind saved us.
TOURS. Rating 5. With Pegasus we went on a long bus tour to Luxor ($90). It was tiring, but the impressions were amazing. We left the hotel at 4 am and returned at 9 pm. Travel time-there-5.5 hours; back - 6 hours. We really liked it, we touched history, saw a lot, although we were extremely tired. The second tour we took from the hotel. It was a sea excursion ($40), it included: a submarine of the Sinbad type; diving with masks and fins from a yacht in the open sea. I liked everything very much, the tour was at a very decent level.
GENERAL IMPRESSION/END. Rating 4. This is a very quiet, calm, family-run, exactly a club hotel in its best traditions. An ideal place for people with children, for people of age and for those who are looking for a quiet comfortable stay.

""""".....…. . Kalimera, Kalimera - it's true they say that a coin always has two sides,... I will remember you forever, but I will never return to you. I want to see the real Red Sea, I want to feel its depth and see the blue transparent expanse"""""……
