From May 3 to May 5.2008, we rested at the Alf Leila Wa Leila hotel of the 1001 Nights complex.
We went with the operator "TEZ-Tour" from the Donetsk agency "Paganel".
I will say right away that there are no complaints about the organizers of our trip, since everything was well organized, clear and understandable. Therefore, I will only talk about the hotel and about excursions, omitting the description of the flight and transfer.
So, in order.
1) Check-in and room
The TEZ-Tour bus brought us to the hotel at about 11 am. The meeting tezturovets "handed over" us to the hotel tezturovtsev, who told us the check-in procedure and some other points. We were taken to the reception desk and the work of the Tezturovets was over.
The representative of the hotel said that we are entitled to a standard room, but it can only be checked in after 12.00. He can offer us a superior room, which you can check in right now. Thus, for a "verified" $ 10, we were given a good room on the second floor.

The room was cleaned regularly. But at an inconvenient time for us. In the very heat, we preferred to relax in the room, and just at that time (from 12.00 to 13.00) they cleaned. We left $1 from the first day, so when we returned to a clean, tidy room, fresh towels and the absence of nasty flies and mosquitoes were waiting for us. Several times in 7 days changed the bed.
Every day, during cleaning, 2 bottles of clean water of 0.5 liters are issued.
The room consists of a main room, a toilet room and a loggia. On the loggia there are plastic chairs and a table. The room has 2 almost double beds, a bedside table, a wardrobe, a huge dressing table with a mirror, a TV, air conditioning and a refrigerator.
Alf Leila Wa Leila does not provide shampoos, shower gels, etc. There is the same liquid soap in the shower as the one near the sink. Hairdryer at the reception.
It is not recommended to use tap water even for brushing your teeth. Although I once, out of forgetfulness, brushed my teeth with this water. It didn't affect me at all.
2) The territory of the hotel "Alf Leila Wa Leila"
The hotel is located on the second (although you can say on the third) line. This is probably why the management of the PICK ALBATROS system, to which Alf Leila Wa Leila belongs, decided to attract tourists with the beauty of architecture, plenty of entertainment and green lawns.
The area in front of the hotel entrance is decorated with flowerbeds with undersized cacti, and the entrance to the hotel resembles Crimean parks with lush vegetation along the road.
The hotel was built in the style of an oriental castle with 2-3 storey buildings. The roofs of the buildings are decorated with turrets and domes, which are beautifully illuminated at night.
The hotel itself is not new, in some places traces of repairs or their absence are visible, but this does not spoil the impression at all.
What is only one main hall of the hotel worth! It cannot be described, it must be seen.
The central street of the hotel is one to one shopping street of the Arab town. It houses shops, shops, a tour desk and restaurants.
Throughout the hotel there are many places to relax in the form of tables and easy chairs standing near them.
There are also many toilets throughout the hotel.
3) Pools

On the territory I counted 4 pools. 2 of them are small, located closer to the hotel entrance in the courtyards of the buildings. I don't think there are any bars near them. Bars are located near the other two pools.
One pool was right behind our building, near the playground. This is a fairly large pool, near the bar (but for some reason the bar did not always work). Sparrows live in umbrellas near this pool.
The main pool is very large, two-level, decorated with several waterfalls and bridges. Animation shows are held near the main pool.
Due to the large number of pools and sun loungers + umbrellas, there were enough free places near them at any time.
Mattresses and towels are free. Towels can be collected/dropped from 8 am to 5 pm near the main pool. On the first day of our stay, we went to the pools at 15.00. There was only one clean towel left. Therefore, it is better to get a towel early.
4) Restaurants, bars and food and drink in general
I can’t say exactly how many restaurants and bars there are in the hotel, because its territory is very large and you don’t have time to look into all corners.
According to the ALL system at the Alf Leila Wa Leila hotel, you can eat almost around the clock: breakfast, brunch, tea time, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner... From 7 am to 21.30, they are sure to be fed somewhere, and watered until 24
The amount of food for breakfast is not much less than the lunch and evening diet, which is impressive. The main courses are repeated daily, but each time there are 5-6 new products. There were very few fruits. Unsympathetic oranges, small peaches and dates. There is a lot of melon in sweet dishes.
And the sweet dishes themselves are just a huge amount.
A lot of "native" vegetables: radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbages, pumpkins.
Near the pools they offered a watermelon - a third of a skibka - 3 dollars.
From drinks - water, beer, products of the Coca-Cola and Pepsi concerns. Fresh is only paid - 12 pounds.
Beer in unlimited quantities in bars and restaurants. Wine in the main restaurant, one bartender gave out only one glass per hand. Very uncomfortable. Moreover, the other bartender gave out any amount of drink.

The bar, located near the reception, has a selection of local alcoholic drinks, which are issued free of charge.
Alcoholic cocktails in bars are varied, their price fluctuates around 40 feet.
5) Dana Beach Hotel Beach
Every 15 minutes from 8.00 to 17.00 a small bus runs to the Dana Beach Hotel. The bus ride is free. Literally 2 minutes drive. The bus is very small, so during "rush hour" tourists take it by storm.
The bus has a break from 12.00 to 13.00.
You can walk to Dana Beach. On a long and straight road in a deserted and muddy area. Walk 10 minutes to the hotel. Not long, but hot.
On the territory of "Dana" to the beach, walk another 7 minutes, but here the views are already prettier. This walk can also be made on a catamaran along a wide channel (free of charge).
The beach of the hotel is very large, with rough, but sand, without corals. The number of umbrellas, sun loungers and windbreaks is simply amazing. It is easy to get lost in this blue and white realm, so many people tie a bright scarf to their umbrella.
There are several bars on the beach, but only one offers free drinks for Alf Leila Wa Leila guests.
Sunbeds and mattresses are free, but you have to carry / bring towels with you from Alf Leila Wa Leila.
Dana Beach has a restaurant where guests of Alf Leila Wa Leila can dine.
6) Entertainment at Alf Leila Wa Leila Hotel:
Show "1001 nights" - every evening, in Russian 2 times a week (free of charge).
Belly dancing is free every evening.
Dancing near the summer theater, which hosts the show "1001 Nights" takes place every evening. You can sit in a bar, drink a cocktail and watch the monotonous movements of 4 girls.
Museum of the History of Egypt - for $1 you can watch a "mini-museum" and a film about the museum of Cairo.
Paid events (various fakir shows, an evening at a fish restaurant, etc. ) - the restaurant staff will inform you about this 100 times a day. The price is different ($8-19 per pair), depending on the show.
Horseback riding, minigolf, tennis - every day 30 minutes free of charge.
Animation shows in the evening in the amphitheater.

In one of the bars along the "main street" you can smoke a hookah and listen to live music.
There is a night club not far from the hotel.
7) Staff, service and tips
The staff is quite smart and friendly. Tipping is not required. But the “traditional” tips we already gave to the waiters, porters and cleaner in the room.
We were warned several times about possible theft. Of course, we left all the documents and some valuables in the safe (safe at the reception, $2/day). But sometimes they forgot the camera or phones in the room even at the time when the cleaning was carried out. We haven't lost anything.
In my opinion, all the hotel staff speaks all languages. Spoken Russian, German and English are known to everyone here. Animation is carried out mainly in Russian and German, since it is the Russian-speaking and German tourists who are the most in the hotel.
Organizers of excursions, representatives of the wellness center, waiters selling cocktails, organizers of paid evening entertainment events walk around the pools all the time. Every 20-30 minutes someone pulls you and offers you something (on the beach "Dana Beach" there are also "barkers", but due to the size of the beach they turn to you less often).
But these people are funny, so they are not annoying. We were even congratulated on May 9, told that they regret the 20 million who died in the war of 1941-1945. That's it!
7) If something is wrong. . .
In our room, the tricky device for issuing liquid soap in the shower did not work. With this problem in the afternoon we turned to the reception. They promised to sort it out. Until the evening, nothing had changed. In the evening we reported this to the representative of TEZ-Tour. The result was the same.
At lunch the next day, we met the person who is in charge of the "ok" numbers (they are in pink shirts). The broken device was replaced after 10 minutes free of charge.
8) Insects
Flies and mosquitoes.
Flies are absolutely everywhere, mosquitoes are only indoors. The good news is that they are silent.

To remove mosquitoes from the room, a special spray is issued at the reception, and fragrant sticks are kindled in the hotel rooms.
Restaurants have special "lamps" against flies, but they do not always help.
6) Shopping
We did not go to the old city, we did all the shopping in the hotel shops and the mall located on the way to Dana Beach.
In these stores, selling prices do not differ from Ukrainian ones. We bought tunics, scarves, perfume and silver. I wouldn't say everything is cheap. A good thing costs the same as ours. The bad one is $2. The only thing that interested us in Egypt from cheaper things than ours is a hookah.
Upon arrival in Egypt, we exchanged a small amount of dollars for local pounds. It is easy to get confused in pounds, so we quickly spent them and later paid only in green bills. The dollar exchange rate in stores is bank, so we did not lose anything.
7) Excursions
We chose Hurghada, and not the more "coral" Sharm El Sheikh, because we really wanted to go to Luxor. But we were so burned out on other excursions that a few-hour bus ride seemed like torture to us and we never got to Luxor. Therefore, next time we will have an excursion to Luxor as the first on the program, and not the last!
We bought excursions at the Alf Leila Wa Leila hotel.
On the third day of our stay in Egypt, we went on a Bedouin excursion, which included quad biking, a visit to a Bedouin village, camel riding and admiring the sunset in the desert. The price also included lunch and a scarf. The tour was great, everyone loved it. Clothing Tip: Be aware that the clothes you will wear on the quads will be very dirty (and your shoes too). It is better that the clothes completely cover the legs and arms (but especially the arms), but be thin enough. They will wrap your face and neck with arafatka.
We watched the sunset from the window of the jeep on which we were driving to the hotel. Since our tour was until 20.00, we did not feel the cold of the desert.

The next day we had a boat trip planned. But my shoulders were very burned, and my husband's hands, so we decided to reschedule the tour or abandon it altogether. To our surprise, there were no problems and additional payments in connection with the transfer of the excursion, we were offered to choose any day convenient for us.
And it's too lazy to ride a bus to the sea. So you sit by the pool, bathe in chlorinated water instead of the Red Sea.
If you prefer to sunbathe by the pool, then this hotel with plenty of sun loungers around several pools is for you!
But next time I will go to a hotel located on the first line. Although I have only pleasant memories of Alf Leila Wa Leila!
