I don’t know how charm is in other hotels, but in Melia it is very felt that bad times have come. In a huge hotel during the week of our vacation, I counted 4 Ukrainian families and 8 Arab families (they came for a couple of days). There are no vacationers - there is no money for even cosmetic repairs, the purchase of linen and towels and the payment of a sufficient number of staff.
About 5 years ago it was good here, but now the rooms are cracked, rust, mold, tattered bed linen in spools and translucent gray towels. When we arrived we were in shock. They tried to pay extra and change the room, but even for an additional 20 euros per day we were shown the same squalor, only with a sea view.
The rooms are disgusting. Dust, scratched mirrors, dirt in the corners (on the first day they left the cleaner 5 bucks, so that at least he could get through normally - nothing has changed (((I took him by the hand, made me wipe the mirrors and bedside tables on which you could draw.
Mattresses are very hard. I like it hard, but even for me it was too much. You wake up in the morning, and your kidneys hurt and your back, like an old grandfather, does not unbend (((
The food is tasteless. Salads - 4-5 types - these are different variations of cucumbers with bitter cabbage, spoiled tomatoes and cheap ham. All week I ate bell peppers, zucchini and eggplant ((only edible meat is chicken. Beef is constantly overdried, like a sole; crabs, squid, tuna, octopus were given every other day, but so overcooked that they were simply inedible. Every day there was some cheap fish in batter, like pangasius. In the end, in this magnificent kitchen, I developed gastritis and for the last two days I have been eating rice and oatmeal (quite tasty, by the way)))
Fruits included dates, melons and apples. Once they gave grapes oranges)
The only thing that pleased me was the beautiful green area, which was looked after by a whole team every day.
It would be completely unreasonable to lose such a thing, they are holding on with their last strength. Several pools, everything is thought out and beautiful. It is felt that times are not the best now - empty massage tents, an indoor kids club, but in general, if you do not look into the rooms, it seems that you are in a beautiful hotel)
