Rested in Melia Sharm from March 10 to March 17.2013, three adults and two children (one is 2 years old, the other is 7 years old).
Check in:
We arrived at the hotel after 19:00. At the reception they asked for good rooms (not 3000s, without amber under the windows, a view of the construction site, etc. ) and for a surcharge of 30 c. u. for both numbers, we were given them - 4204 and 4205. Before paying, we examined them and everything suited us.
Room 4204 has a balcony overlooking the main courtyard with pools and side sea views. When the door to the balcony is open, during the day you can hear the sound of the waterfall. It is turned off at night. The hood was also heard, which was turned on in the restaurant when cooking 3 times a day. The buzz was not strong, a little quieter than the room fan, and we decided not to change the room.

4205 had a huge terrace, common to several rooms, and overlooking the sea. A side view of the hotel from it is difficult due to the domes of the building (see photo).
Check-in was delayed by half an hour due to the replacement of non-working cards and batteries in the lock of room 4205.
Territory:
Big enough, green and well-groomed. Many paths specially wind and pass through the bridges through the pools, conducive to walks, but if you want, you can cross the territory more straightforwardly and quickly. Everything looks very nice and well maintained. A huge plus is the presence of a heated pool. The water is very warm and the view from it is magnificent.
Sea:
For children, there is a good sandy beach with a place to splash around, and those who want to swim will have to overcome the pontoon of about 150 meters, located on the left side of the beach. The reef is beautiful, but no squids, moray eels and barracudas were seen. Sometimes we saw rays, various pufferfish and soldierfish. We saw sharks twice.
Food and drinks:
In my opinion, the food is the same. There are many dishes and everyone will find something for themselves, but within the framework of your chosen diet, there is practically no choice. This is especially felt at breakfast.
A big request to vacationers: do not make a general queue of 15 people at the food stands. If you need a fish, then come and take it, well, or skip the one who needs the same fish, and who came before you. This request is not dictated by arrogance, but by common sense and the desire to make this world a better place : )
Connoisseurs of good alcoholic drinks will not feel comfortable in this hotel, as wine and beer are not of high quality, and sometimes warm. Cocktails in the main restaurant for an amateur. Coffee is better to drink in the lobby or in a restaurant on the beach and near the pool. At least it's insoluble there.
Animation:
Animation for adults was not interested, but the evening disco for children really liked it. On it were both the usual set of dances (Aram-zam-zam, ducklings, a train) and outdoor games. The kids are delighted.

Children's club includes: a club building, a designer, a TV and an animator, which this TV includes.
Service:
Service at Melia Sharm is unobtrusive, sometimes bordering on non-existent. For example, when you come to the terrace of a restaurant in the morning, you will have time to have breakfast and go for coffee on your own before you see a waiter with a coffee pot, who may not come to you. I am glad that the staff does not pursue tourists with their hospitality. You will always be greeted, but they will not pester you with conversations. The rooms were cleaned well and without a tip, but when they made a request for a change of linen, they changed it only in one of our rooms, in which they left 1 dollar. The next day, they left a dollar in the second room, and then the bed was changed in it. Surprised by three holes, a centimeter each, on one duvet cover. For a 5* hotel, it's kind of shameful. Dirty glasses and cups with chips - came across, but rarely.
In the evening, on the eve of the day of departure, we found that after cleaning the room, we were not informed of one towel. This has never happened before. We decided not to postpone this issue until the morning, because after reading reviews on other hotels, we knew that upon departure they might start extorting money. At the reception we were asked to return to the room and wait. Five minutes later, a guy was standing outside our door with three towels to choose from. Whether this situation was an accident or not, we will never know.
Departure:
We left at 6:00 am.
Exposed, as expected, the luggage out the door and went to the reception. Received our breakfast cereals ordered the night before from an agency representative. Breakfast included: 650 ml bottle of water, chips, butter and cheese sandwich, muffin, juice bag and an apple. When the bus came for us, it turned out that no one thought to bring our luggage. I had to go back and pick it up myself.
Conclusion:

One gets the impression that having a good beach with a beautiful reef, greenery and a large area with excellent pools, the hotel is trying to save on the rest. Perhaps due to this, the prices at Melia Sharm look attractive and if you are not picky about service and food, you can have a great rest in it.
Good luck to you and enjoy your holiday.
