Second time in Egypt. We stayed at the hotel from 08/14/2013 to 08/28/2013. Tour operator - Pegasus. There are no complaints about the tour operator, especially in light of the current situation. Arrived and departed on schedule. . . Special thanks to the hotel guide Pegasus — Leysan. She does her job in good faith, and it's just a pleasure to talk to her.
We arrived at the hotel at 13:30, handed over our passports and went for lunch. After lunch we were seated immediately. Helpful Hint: Make a couple of photocopies of the passport photo page, as upon check-in, they want to pick up a passport for a day (for the police or something), but a photocopy is also suitable.
We took a standard room. They settled us in a good room (5043) on the ground floor: plumbing, TV, air conditioning, etc. worked properly; The furniture is a little shabby, but quite nice. They didn’t pay extra for sea-view or the second floor, because. We came to rest, not to sit in the room. Before leaving, we read a lot of reviews, so the room was not a surprise for us. The only problem in the room is the shower. In the process of taking a shower, water from the side of the bathtub flows onto the floor, because. instead of curtains, an original design solution was used here : ) - a glass partition, the length of which is clearly insufficient. After taking a shower, a large puddle remained on the floor, which was wiped only the next day when cleaning. The problem is partially solved by periodically brushing water from the side into the bath : ( Another unpleasant moment (as it turned out, the problem of many rooms in the hotel) - the key to the room is a plastic card, the lock is electronic. The keys are demagnetized from time to time, and the locks are somehow clogged Once they could not even get into the room. To the credit of the hotel, the problem was solved within 15 minutes - a repairman came running and replaced the lock, after which the problem did not arise again.

The staff at the hotel is friendly. But he is even more friendly with guests from Western Europe : ) We have never seen them tip, probably this is the stereotype of the service staff. Guests from the CIS countries are served according to the leftover principle (your drinks will still be brought to you, but after a thorough “licking” of the Europeans). But if there are no foreigners in sight, then everything is fine. This is especially noticeable in a restaurant, when you sit and wait 10 minutes ago for the ordered Pepsi, you have already eaten everything, and the waiter runs around and brings drinks to foreigners who came after you - very unpleasant. We always ate on the terrace, there are usually two waiters, one is not bad (younger), the second is a complete pi. . ts, I even wanted to complain about him. He is always overly friendly, but in the presence of foreigners it is impossible to wait for drinks from him. We would have managed without bringing drinks, but only for lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant there is such a standard of service: drinks are brought by waiters. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the staff: the reception and cleaning are completely adequate, as a result of which the reaction to the problems of the guests is adequate, and the territory is clean, very green and very pleasant.
The food at the hotel is not bad (in our opinion, quite tasty), but monotonous and therefore quickly boring. For breakfast, natural meat was not given (there were sausages and sausage, fried bacon), but this is typical for hotels in Egypt and Turkey. For lunch and dinner there were always beef, chicken, fish, seafood, as well as vegetables and fruits. But the method of cooking meat dishes did not change from day to day, although their names were different : ) Many different desserts (buns, cakes, kozinaki, jelly, etc. ), some are very tasty, some are not very; In short, you have to try. The wines and cocktails included in the AI are terrible in the hotel. Beer is good, strong drinks have not tried.
Animation in the hotel is weak. During the day, she is present exclusively at the large pool (aqua aerobics, dance lessons, water polo) - they tried to participate, in principle, fun. Music plays by the pool until sunset. But in Egypt, people come to the sea, and not lie down near the bassik. But near the sea from the animation there is only volleyball in the evenings and half an hour in the morning (because it is very hot). Every evening there is a show program (there were a singer, a saxophone, an Egyptian night, a magician, karaoke, guess the tune) and a disco. In general, according to the show program - offset, with the exception of the beach party held on Tuesdays. It is paid ($15). There is a 10-minute snake show where two unfortunate snakes and a few random guests are tortured. After that, a good fire show, which will be shown to you the next day for free in the evening program. Then the disgusting disco begins.
On other days there is also a disco, and just as disgusting (on the beach and in the club the same DJ). Playlist - hodgepodge. Of course, we understand that they want to please everyone, but in the end no one likes it: we went several times, it is always empty there. People come, listen to a few topics and disperse. And the animators are the first to leave the disco : ). Although we note that the DJ works steadfastly even with an empty hall until 2 a. m. due to him - it’s even a pity for him somehow.

The hotel is remote from the major shopping malls and walking streets of Sharma. To get to Naama - $ 20 by taxi (total fare there and back), to Soho - $ 10. True, nearby (near the Baron Hotel) there are good shopping arcades where you can buy everything. You can get there along the beach: you need to go towards the unfinished buildings of the hotel, then go through the beach of Rotana and Baron (you can both along the beach and along the beautiful pedestrian street near the hotels). The road will take 5-10 minutes on foot, the rows are open from morning to midnight.
In our opinion, the reef at the hotel is very good. Of the rare representatives of the fauna, we saw a large (about 1.5-2 meters) eagle stingray, a large sea turtle, and several lionfish live near the pontoon. A small (about a meter) Napoleon, a flock of tunas (also about a meter long), a barracuda swims up. A small white moray eel lives under the pontoon. At high tide a flathead was seen. And countless variety of smaller colored fish, which simply dazzle in the eyes.
If the house reef is not enough for someone, you can swim on the reefs of neighboring hotels, both to the right and to the left. There is sometimes a strong current in the direction of Melia Sinai in the morning.
In our opinion, the best time to view the reef is in the evening (from 4 to 6 pm): the water calms down, and the underwater inhabitants relax from the influx of tourists. Most of the most interesting fish were seen in the evening.
It is sad to see that some guests, despite the prohibitions, actively feed the fish and walk along the reef. As you know, the reef dies from this, and the fish become ill from atypical food, and in the end they also die. In addition, large concentrations of fish can attract large predators. Guards are sitting on the pontoons of neighboring hotels, who begin to whistle at any suspicious movement, there is no one on Melia's pontoon.
Hotel advantages:
- excellent reef;
- beautiful territory;
- Good service and food.
Disadvantages:
- remoteness from Naama and Soho;
- benevolence of staff towards Europeans;
- disgusting disco, weak animation.
Summarizing, let's say: the hotel is not bad for its price, but there is no desire to return to it.
P. S. They rested during the riots in Cairo - the so-called. "Nights of Anger" Neither before, nor after, nor during the events in Cairo, there were no problems in Sharm. Everything is peaceful and calm (they were in the evening both in Soho and in Naama), everything is as usual, only that you can’t go to Cairo.

Therefore, if you are going to go to Egypt in September 2013, you can safely go to Sharm and not be afraid of anything.
