March 7 flew in from Egypt. Rested four of us from 28.02 to 07.03. 2010 at the Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn 4*. In general, the impressions are good, we were all satisfied with the rest. The hotel really fully corresponds to its 4 stars. It has its downsides, of course, but there are upsides to this hotel. In general, it should be borne in mind that this is 4 and not 5 stars. So, in order.
In short: the hotel is quite good, with a compact well-groomed and well-planned territory, good food, above average service, normal rooms, good location. Cons - non-provision of bottled drinking water to the rooms, the second line and periodic difficulties with the delivery of everyone to the beach and back by bus, in the beach bar for free only Pepsi, 7-up, Fanta, and buns in the morning (any food, beer, juices - for a fee ), lack of sun loungers on the beach (for those who did not arrive by the first bus), poor animation program in the evenings.
Now for more details.

This year, the budget did not allow to go to expensive five-star hotels (we used to rest in pretty good five-star hotels), but since we still wanted to relax (especially after the already boring cold weather), we decided to give up for a week in a four-star hotel. We decided to focus on the sea and diving. We were interested in the beach in the bay of Ras Um Sid, so we were looking for an appropriate hotel.
After a week of studying hotel descriptions, reviews and offers of tour operators, as well as talking with several travel agencies, we settled on one of the hotels offered by the travel agency "For Four Seas" (Zaporozhye) - the Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn 4 * hotel, with a departure from Zaporozhye, through the Turtess operator. The flight was delayed a little (for an hour and a half), but then they flew out safely. We flew in 3.5 hours. There are no comments to the operator - sending and meeting, transfer - everything is fine. We reached the hotel in about 40 minutes. At the reception, they understand and speak Russian normally, we were immediately put on hotel bracelets and taken to dinner. We were given rooms immediately after we had dinner - on the third floor of the main building. The rooms are quite spacious. The furniture and plumbing are old, but we didn’t go for that. A significant disadvantage of the rooms in the main building is the lack of balconies. The view from both rooms (307 and 358) was on the road, which upset us a little at first, but in practice the location of the rooms turned out to be convenient for us - close to the restaurant and the exit from the hotel (we spent most of the time outside the hotel). Tourists in the hotel: 60 percent Russians and Ukrainians, 30 percent Italians, and a few Germans.
The rooms are located in the main three-story building and separate two-story bungalows. The bungalows have standards (more spacious than in the main building, with a terrace or balcony) and suites. In the main building, the rooms are normal in size, with moderately old furniture and plumbing. The mini-bar is empty (just a fridge. Safe at the reception. There is no hair dryer in the room (you can take it at the reception). Rooms are cleaned daily, normally. We were laid out on the beds of swans, hares from bath towels every day (of course it when they are made by hands that have just washed the floor... ).
You can’t open the window in the evenings - otherwise you will have to feed mosquitoes all night (for some reason, even fumigators don’t take them). Mosquitoes are “etched” with smoke there every three days, but this does not make them less. At night, air conditioning and ventilation systems hum on the roof above the left wing of the main building (where we had room 358), which is quite annoying. There is no such thing on the right wing.

And one more thing - it's better not to hang a towel in the room on the parapet to dry - they tend to fall down from the breath of the wind, and of course they won't come back to you (and it will cost you 10 dollars).
The territory of the hotel is small, compact, well-planned, green and well-groomed. On the territory there are two unheated (including children's) and one heated (warm) pools. We did not sunbathe by the pools, but according to observations, all the sunbeds are usually occupied. From the animation we saw only water polo (maybe there was something else, but not with us). Sometimes small herons roam the lawns of the hotel.
Fitness room and tennis court - one name. In the fitness room there are four simulators and a barbell, the room is small. Tennis court with a "sandy" surface and a net that has seen the summer. You can get tennis rackets and balls at the reception only from 9 am to 5 pm (when they are not needed). In the evenings, a free bus carries a free bus to Naama (at 20.00 there at 23.00 back) - but you can get on it only by prior appointment (before lunch). If you are not on the list, they will not let you on the bus. In the evenings, the hotel is boring, there is practically nothing to do. We spent two evenings at the hotel - we played table tennis (1 table) and billiards (2 tables). Evening show programs are rare and do not arouse interest. Children in the evenings in the hotel are clearly bored. After dinner, our compatriots prefer to spend time at the pool bar (open until 24.00) and after it, part of it “floats” to the disco (open from 24.00 to 02.00) - after which they do “pirouettes” there (no need to go to the show  ). The train to Lady Gaga at the disco is probably a daily tradition. The repertoire is 99% the same every day (the DJ needs to give a new disc). Drinks at the disco are paid (Stella beer costs 4-5 dollars - depending on the mood of the bartender (in a supermarket 5 minutes from the hotel the same beer costs 10 pounds)).
The hotel's beach is 5 minutes away by bus. The beach is located on the territory of the hotel under construction, between the beaches of the Renessence Golden Viev Beach and Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort hotels. The beach is normal, the entrance to the sea on a small pontoon. There is a diving center on the beach. But I don’t see the point of diving on the beach - far from the best option. There are enough corals and living creatures, but it is much more beautiful if you swim 500 meters to the right or left (near the Hilton and the Renaissance). A bus takes you to the beach (50 seats), according to the schedule (in the morning: there at 9.00, 9.30, 10.15 and 10.45, back at 12.30, 13.00, 14.00; in the afternoon: there at 14.30 and 15.00, back at 17.00). The first morning flight is taken by storm - there are many who want it, and some drivers (changing) do not take standing ones. And if you don’t arrive on the first flight to the beach, you may not find sunbeds, because. the beach is taken from 4 or 5 hotels. Back also at 12.30 - did not come in advance - you might not get in. Tourists have always been very indignant about this. Especially when you miss the last bus to the hotel and have to take a taxi. But the administrator Yulia (Ukrainian, has been living in Egypt for about 8 years) treats tourists so carefully that she doesn’t give a damn about this or much else - they didn’t get in, walk (40 minutes) or take a taxi...

The second beach (paid, $ 2 (if you pay at your hotel) and $ 4 (if you pay at the entrance to the beach)) is located 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel, in the Shores Aloha hotel area. I can’t say anything for him, because. we didn't go to it.
The food at the hotel is really good - the choice is certainly not as huge as in good fives, but the food is of high quality, and you will never be hungry. Breakfast from 07.00 to 10.00 (always one assortment), lunch from 13.00 to 15.00 (normal assortment, there is always a normal soup, potatoes, pasta, chicken, beef, fish, vegetables, fruits (dates, melons, bananas, guava), sweets) , dinner from 10.00 to 22.00 (every day they try to change the menu, they spend days of national, fish, Italian cuisine). Of course, juices from powders, tea, coffee are normal, dry red wine is quite good, beer is like ours diluted 1 to 1 with water (as elsewhere in Egypt). In principle, the nutrition can be put 5-.
Drinking water can be bottled in the cooler in the main restaurant. To do this, you only need to have a bottle (buy water in the supermarket, or take a 1.5 liter bottle of water with you from home).
We mostly spent our evenings outside the hotel - in Naama (cafes with sea exotic (a delicious seafood soup costs only 25-30 pounds), shops), in the Old Market (by taxi for $ 2, we bought strawberries, physalis, kumquat (kinkan ), souvenirs, etc. , and just walked around) and in Fantasia - the so-called. "A Thousand and One Nights" (walk slowly for 10 minutes). Fantasia has a very beautiful courtyard with fountains (you can enter for free). Then you have to pay for each zone (depending on what you want - a museum of the history of Egypt, belly dance, laser show, disco... ). We watched a belly dance (for an amateur! - far from thin women dance it. The situation was saved only by the performance of dancers with skirts (beautiful)). Of course, there, as elsewhere, the locals will try to divorce you. If you sat down to watch a belly dance, you will be offered to "definitely" buy something at the bar (for example, beer (the same Stella) for $ 10), or transfer to "another place". But if you simply persistently ignore this offer, no one will kick you out.

We did not buy excursions from the operator, but rather cheaper from excursion companies in Naama (Moses Mountain, and intro diving (without a certificate, with an instructor)). No worse, but for less money. Moreover, we did not want to spend the whole day on diving, as everyone suggests (on a boat). From past experience, we knew where these boats sailed, so we immediately agreed for an individual dive from the shore, on the beach of the Club Phanara hotel. As a result, we each paid $ 55 for 2 dives of 20 minutes with the Russian-speaking instructor of the Blue Lagoon dive center Gamal. It took only half a day, and it brought more pleasure than last time from the boat!
Who will go on long excursions, bought not at the hotel, I immediately warn you - you need to take care of getting a "dry ration" - lunch or breakfast (depending on what you miss) before leaving. the nice girl Yulia (administrator), who provides this, due to the fact that you bought the tour not at the hotel (from representatives of tour operators), will just as sweetly, with a smile on her face, answer: “I can’t help you with anything. ”
If someone is interested in neoprene wetsuits (if you swim long and far with a mask and snorkel, then it’s not hot), fins / masks of normal quality and at a normal fixed price, then it’s better to go to the Old Market area to the Metro store (taxi drivers know). To the left of the Subway is an equipment store. We have explored everything in Naama and the Old Market where they sell equipment - this store is the best both in terms of prices and quality of equipment.
In general, despite all the disadvantages listed (the hotel is still not 5 *), we were completely satisfied with the rest! , and would go to this hotel again. The price / quality ratio is fully consistent.
