We chose the hotel based on reviews, so upon arrival we decided to share our impressions, perhaps it will be useful to someone. We are not the first time in Egypt, so there is something to compare.
I'll start with the shortcomings, they are there, but, as for me, there are not many of them and this does not fundamentally change the situation. First of all, this is a second-hand number of rooms. We didn't pay extra, they gave us room 917, not far from the restaurant. It was evident from the room that it needed renovation, but given that we only spent the night in it, this did not spoil the rest in any way.
The second drawback is the garbage and unfinished construction work in the area of the stairs leading to the beach. Against the backdrop of a chic sea, construction debris looks somehow out of place.
Also, there is no pantone on the hotel beach, and you have to walk to the right, to the pantone, which is located behind the city beach (we still did not understand who it belongs to).
When we rested, repairs were carried out on the cliff from above (the overhanging blocks were cut) and for a couple of days the guard “became his chest” and did not let the vacationers in, but we went around him by sea. Then the guard got tired, and everything was as before. In the afternoon, at high tide, the reef can be crossed by sea, but in the morning only from Pantone.
It may be difficult for older people and very small people to constantly climb the stairs from the beach, so this nuance must be taken into account. For us personally, this was not a problem.
I also didn’t like that during the meeting with the guide from Join Up (Samir) he tried hard to sell the tour, but at the same time forgot to say that there are a lot of sea urchins and stingrays in the sea. It is better to swim in corals, especially considering that the reef is along the entire coast. But this is not the fault of the hotel, rather the tour operator.
Now for the pros:
- a gorgeous sea with an amazing reef.
Every day, a lot of pleasure yachts sail to the hotel with tourists who are scuba diving or just swimming. Perhaps if you sign up for a boat trip, you will be very surprised when you are brought back to the hotel.
- good quality food. If you want to go on a gastronomic tour, then this is probably not the place for you. But, if you still soberly assess the cost of the tour and what you can get for it, then everything is fine. For your money you will get even more than you expected (tasty, good assortment, everything is fresh). Strong alcohol, like everywhere else in Egypt, is not very good. There was no wine. The beer is wonderful.
- polite staff. Surprisingly, which is usually not typical of Egypt, the issues were resolved quickly (in the morning they left a request for air conditioning repair and an employee immediately came). During the entire holiday, we did not meet with rudeness from the staff.
- Special thanks to the animators.
The animation in the hotel is unobtrusive, for which many thanks to them. In total, there are four animators in the hotel. We talked with Alena - she is Russian-speaking. There is also an Italian girl and a guy (there are a lot of Italians in the hotel) and a guy who speaks English and broken Russian. During the day on the beach, they conduct marine aerobics, dances, but at the same time, if you do not want to, they will not force you to pull. In the evening after the program, guests are taken to a disco.
- There are several bars in the hotel. Night is open until 01.00. The staff does not count how many cocktails or glasses of beer you have drunk - pours as much as you need.
- water is not provided in the rooms, but water is free in coolers in bars and restaurants. There is a full bar on the beach.
- there are enough places on the beach for everyone, but if you want better places, you need to get up early and take it.
- despite the fact that the number of rooms is not very new, but they clean the rooms wonderfully (subjectively I judge by my number). Bed linen was changed several times.
And most importantly, it is also very clean on the territory (with the exception of places where work is underway or construction in progress) and in the corridors.
- you can get a ride to the beach on a scooter, but to be honest, it's more for the exotic - it's not far to go.
To the Old Town 2.4 km (when leaving the hotel to the left) - on foot 30-40 minutes. There is also a market closer (at the exit from the hotel to the right, to the crossroads and to the left). The Old City is more expensive.
Internet in the hotel is paid, but for $13 you can buy a 9.5 GB SIM card right at the hotel. That's enough.
And in short, for your money this is an excellent option with an amazing sea, normal cuisine, friendly and unobtrusive staff, well-groomed territory.
