We went to Greece to Kos, instead of Turkey, because where we would like, it was very expensive. And sorry...
We flew from Domodedovo, with the Transaero company, with this self-registration, I ruined all my nerves. It gave out seats, one at a time throughout the plane (and I'm flying with small children! ), I had to contact the desk several times until they checked us in themselves. And with an already spoiled mood, she boarded the plane. The children were given a box of mini-entertainments. We flew for 3 hours. We arrived in the evening. We waited in line for more than an hour to check in. Tour operator Biblio-Globus. There were no problems with him.
We arrived at the hotel in the dark. We immediately went to dinner. At the reception, only one speaks Russian, and that is very bad. But there were no language problems. Upon check-in, we were offered to pay 185 euros and settle in a two-room apartment with a sea view.
The toad strangled and we refused. They settled us in a one-room apartment, as it should be. On the second floor. Next to the main building. In front of the windows, buses drove up with vacationers. The room is large (compared to Turkish) and it makes no sense to pay extra. The loggia is large with chairs and tables. In the evening you watch how everyone goes to the “local concert”. For children, folding beds, uncomfortable, the seam dug in at the level of the ridge. The double bed is narrow. There is a lot of furniture in the room, 2 closets, a sofa, a table, a dressing table… There is a small window in the bathroom. Shampoo, soap, etc. all brought. Safe for a fee, for 2 weeks - 35 euros. like. The air conditioner was located against the children, and it worked poorly, we had to open the doors to the balcony at night. There are no nets. When the wind died down, mosquitoes flew in. You can hear the buses running. And most importantly, planes fly right overhead all night. And until one in the morning, like, music from a nearby hotel. Over time, you get used to it, but it's not comfortable.
It was hard for me to sleep, a sensitive dream. I thought about changing but didn't. Since the sun did not directly shine in the room for us all day, so it was not stuffy. Only cleanly from this point of view, the room is conveniently located. Cleaned every day, in the morning, as soon as we left.
We arrived in the evening, the children were thirsty, there was nothing in the mini bar, they didn’t find any cold water in the restaurant either, there were no take-out glasses, there were no bottles of water anywhere either, we went to the store to buy! Then we were told that you can come with your container to the restaurant and pour from the type of colors there. In general, not very convenient.
Since there are few Russian vacationers, Germans, French, British, many pensioners are not ours, there are not very many with children, there have always been places in the restaurant. The food is not as varied as in Turkey, but generally ok. Children have something to eat, but not very small ones. The only thing was that there was nothing special to eat during the day.
On the beach at the bar during the day, ice cream, apples and type of sandwiches and water are different. In general, you will not get fat.
In the morning the sunbeds were free by the pool and on the beach, foreigners were in no hurry to take them, unlike ours. Those from morning to evening hung in bars. The sea water pool was not heated, not for adults, not for children. It was cold to swim. The water is very salty. There was a deposit of 10 euros for a towel. On the beach, Russian towels disappeared. Nefig they sun loungers to occupy in their absence. You can change on certain days. We dried on the balcony on chairs, because there were no dryers.
We didn’t actually swim in the sea, it was cold and the wind was constantly strong, which was very annoying. On the beach there is a playground, which is almost always empty. Because there was no canopy or shade. And in the evening, too, you can’t take a walk there, because the wind was so strong that you had to warm yourself.
And they took mostly light things, they thought it would be warm, how it would be in Turkey. The beach is sandy, but dirty, because there were few urns. But better than in the neighboring hotels Atlantica Porto Bello Royal. Where you could go and have a look. Feet from the sand could be washed off only in one place, at the bar, and since the shower is located at head level, and if you remember about the wind, then everything was washed except for the feet. People were fishing on the pier. We went to look at schools of fish eating bread.
The territory is small, nowhere to walk, but green and beautiful. Unlike the neighboring hotel.
Wi-Fi was bad in the lobby. Russian cocktails, some barmaids did carelessly.
There was some animation. We didn't go, I don't know exactly what. Kids club, where there were only foreign children. Music was turned on just before dinner. And the silence is depressing.
There is a free shuttle from the hotel several times a day. The schedule is not very convenient. The paid buses are almost the same. Taxi is expensive. 10 euros to Kardamene.
And there to go 5 minutes, 3 km. Have been to Kardamena a couple of times. Tiny city. 2.5 main streets with shops and a promenade with cafes. The prices are normal. Cheaper than in Kos itself. Before 10 am there is nothing to do there. All closed. At 5 o'clock they start to close. And the buses run from 8.22. What for? ! The main thing is that if you come in the morning to wander around Kardamena, the bus will pick you up, only after lunch! So once we mixed up the buses, we wanted to go to Kos, and sat down in Kardamena, we forgot the schedule. We wandered and went on foot to the hotel, reached in half an hour. Walked because of another toad. Passed by neighboring hotels, people went to the beach across the road, going down the mountain, the beach itself is narrow. In the city itself, if you go deeper, there are also small beaches. The city itself is somehow unattractive, the houses are shabby. You can rent a room right in the city. There are supermarkets.
We went to Kos. We walked for 4 hours. Book a bus to the hotel.
You can do it yourself, on transfer buses, for the price it turns out almost the same, only hemorrhoids. Nice town, with many restaurants and shops, there is McDonald's. We took a ride on a sightseeing train, there are three types of them, with different routes. The locals are very friendly, they speak English, there are Russian sellers, but very few.
You can rent a car, the price is acceptable, but we did not take the right. Maybe our Russian ones. ATVs without a license, but not safe with children.
In the hotel itself, no one bothers you with anything. The tour operator was almost constant. We didn't go on excursions. Although it was attractive to Rhodes. But with children they abstained.
We flew out after dinner, paid extra like 20 euros to keep the room until the evening. You won’t sit with your children in the sun or in the foyer until departure. Arrived at night, took a taxi City.
Summarizing.
I described as detailed as I could, without prejudice, I could write a little inaccurately at prices, a lot of time passed, I forgot. Retirement vacation. It has never happened before that I could not wait until I leave the sea. The hotel itself is good, although with small flaws, it's just not to our liking. Didn't like the holiday. The only reassuring thing was that there were unrest in Turkey at that time. It would be better if they waved to Crete .. .

During the day the temperature was 33-35 degrees, at night it is often cool. The sea is warm enough. Bathed every day. In general, the weather was comfortable.
Taking a taxi to the airport in St. Petersburg, we were once again convinced that no matter how much time you need to get there, but anyway, given our traffic jams, you need to leave an hour earlier. We were traveling with a small child, so check-in went without a queue. At airports, it is recommended to carry out flights with a stroller for children. But she is very uncomfortable for them. The pushchair is much more convenient! Nobody weighed the stroller. We gave her only at the gangway of the plane. Upon arrival at Kos, she was waiting for us at the gangway. In Russia, when we flew back, they gave it to us with luggage in the baggage claim hall.
The hotel is close to the airport. The transfer from the airport went well. When checking into the room at the reception, we were told that a surprise awaits us and instead of a one-room suite, we will have a two-room one. The room already had a baby cot available upon request. A few days later, I discovered that her bottom mount was broken. I reported this to the reception. She was immediately replaced. Planes flying over the hotel do not cause any negative emotions.
In addition to the baby stroller-book, they took 2 suitcases with them: a large suitcase with things and a smaller one with food for the child. They took the food to which he was accustomed (cereals, mixtures, jars). We did not see food in the hotel for one-year-old children. In the nearest village of Kardamena, in the LOUIS supermarket, baby food and formula are sold, but there is less choice than in the city where we live. There are no hypoallergenic mixtures, only simple dairy ones.
Room cleaning every day. Tipping occasionally left the maid for 50 cents, 1-2 euros. Safe in the room for a fee. For beach towels, a deposit of 10 euros per person. If you are traveling with small children, rooms are on the first floor. Therefore, instead of a balcony - a terrace. The room also has a telephone, a small refrigerator, air conditioning, TV and beds in each room.
The hotel area is quite spacious. Palm trees and other plants are watered every day. There is one large swimming pool and a small one for children with sea water. Jacuzzi is one name. This jacuzzi has only three jets! The hotel security in their clothes (gray-blue shirts) simply dissolves among the tourists. Although it is there, it is not visible.
One main restaurant free to visit and three restaurants that could be visited by appointment a day in advance. The choice of food in restaurants is about the same. The food is just amazing. For food, you can give the highest score. Daily varied, large selection of dishes: European soups, pancakes, potatoes, rice, pasta, pasta, a lot of meat, fish, chicken, cabbage rolls, salads, olives, watermelons, melons, oranges, plums, apples, a lot of sweets, ice cream, cake- ice cream and more. No stool disorder. Good beer and wine in restaurants. There are no juices. Instead, mixed concentrates. I recommend sitting at tables served by male waiters, because many female waiters are very intrusive - they try to beat you out of a tip by any means (especially in restaurants that are visited by appointment). Many visitors never tip the waiters at all. We sometimes gave 1-2 euros.
Very good bottled wine is sold at the entrance to the main restaurant. Bought through a manager. The waiters, no matter what they say, have nothing to do with him. We took a couple of these different bottles with us to St. Petersburg and were very pleased. Should have taken more.
Three bars in the hotel: one in the main building at the reception (the best), the second by the pool, the third on the beach. Alcoholic drinks are almost all European. Good Italian champagne, sparkling wines. They mix a variety of cocktails. I personally liked the rum cocktails: the pina colada and the woman in red. Sandwiches are served at the bar located on the beach for lunch. When we left, we took them with us. And they ate them not only at the airport, but even at home for another whole day. Very tasty local mineral water. Since we traveled with a small child and needed a lot of water, a mineral water bottle was filled with clean ordinary water at the beach bar from a machine.
The beach is sandy and clean. Little trash. Sunbeds, umbrellas for free, there are always free. The sea is very clean and transparent. Toilet behind the bar. Free catamarans for riding. Swimming with a mask and snorkel. There are few fish. I saw a jellyfish, cuttlefish, various fish. To the left, near the pier, there are schools of some aggressive fish made of large stones. I don't know their names. But if you swim up to them, then the whole flock of these fish rushes to you and begins to demonstrate spikes popping out of their backs. To the right of the far buoy is a flock of fish, each a meter long.
During the day, we spent all the time on the beach, except for the bad time (from 12 to 15). Animators constantly invited tourists to volleyball. Lots of animation programs both on the beach and by the pool. Almost all animators are Italians. In the evening, in a place called “theater”, the animators arranged a disco, then a performance. Almost all the scenes from the performance were on the “blue” theme. The Italian tourists loved it. Often a male actor would come down from the stage and sit on the lap of a male tourist. Such evening performances are clearly not for children. Once a week a Greek ensemble with live music and dancers is very interesting. A couple of times a week a singer with live music. + others a couple of times a week you can hear it from a nearby hotel: porto bello royale. After that, a short walk around the hotel with cocktails. The evening will not be boring. Twice a week training for everyone is free of charge in the diving pool.
Of the tourists, Italians, Germans and Russians predominated. Lots of tourists with small children. For children, a very good holiday. Greeks in general are absolutely normal people. European mentality. A woman can easily walk alone. Not like Muslim countries. Now I don't want to go to Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia anymore. You can lie on the beach in peace. No one will come up to you and will not try to sell any rubbish.
From the hotel every day, a free bus runs several times to the nearest village of Kardamena. Clean, cozy streets. Souvenirs, water is cheaper here. But nothing more serious can be bought here. After getting off the bus, cross the bridge and walk along this street, past the shops to a small square with benches. If you go to the right there will be a port. If we go left, we reach the taxi rank. Turn right, there will be a pharmacy. The medicines that we needed turned out to be 2 times cheaper than in St. Petersburg and also twice as much in volume as they are sold in Russia. If you cross the road at the taxi rank, you will see a LOUIS supermarket. You can buy a lot there. Baby food too.
Many excursions, including to nearby islands, to Turkey. I didn't go myself. Local paid public buses run regularly. Theoretically, you can leave in the morning for the capital of the island. Walk there and come back in the evening. Some tourists rented cars. Once I saw tourists from Moscow who came to Kos in order to buy thyme honey in the local apiary. They hired a car. What is so special about local honey, I did not understand.
Next to the hotel is the hotel Porto Bello Royal belonging to the same system. Animators work for two hotels. It is 5 stars, located above porto bello beach. There are many pools there. At first glance, it looks cooler than Porto Belo Beach. Very nice view from the reception to the sea. But it is covered in concrete, there is little greenery, the beach is a little worse. If you look at Porto Belo Beach from above, it seems that it looks like poor huts. But this is a misleading impression. In fact, porto bello beach (4 stars) is more homey, the beach is better, the entertainment in the hotels is almost the same, the food is equally good.
There are no SPA procedures in Porto Belpo Beach. They are offered to go to Porto Bello Royal. But the price tag on them is very high. In fact, nothing special, just a variety of massage. There is no set of procedures. In Europe, for such a price tag, you can walk around the SPA procedures all day long. Visiting FISH SPA in Kardamena is much cheaper.
The guide at the hotel was Boris. While resting, he tried. Issues that arose were quickly resolved. But when he was supposed to leave under the pretext that there was supposedly a strike at the airport, he took people who were supposed to fly at different times on different flights to the airport on the same bus early in the morning. Although the transfer to the airport was paid for each flight separately. Despite the fact that the hotel is located near the airport (maximum 20 minutes drive), people on later flights were sitting at the airport instead of 2 hours, for 6-8 hours. No one else heard about this strike except Boris, neither the hotel workers, nor the Greeks, nor other foreigners. At the airport they said that they had no strike.
We refused the transfer. And while the rest of the people from our flight and our hotel were already sitting at the airport, we sat on the beach for another 3.5 hours. Then we ate at the hotel. We went to the airport by taxi ordered in advance for 25 euros. Food at the airport is expensive. One sandwich 4.5 euros, coffee about 4-5 euros. So, they did not lose by leaving by taxi. The hotel has nothing to do with it. It's Boris' fault.
Overall a wonderful holiday. The hotel is good. I would like to come back to this hotel again!

2. The rooms are small, TV, air conditioning, bathroom with bathtub, hairdryer, refrigerator, balcony, but paid safe - 3 euros per day.
3. Room service is rather weak, even with a tip so-so, but every day. Towels are not changed often, linen too. For beach towels take a deposit - 10 e each.
4. Territory - a lot of greenery, flowers, one pool with sea water and one paddling pool for children, 1 restaurant and 3 a la carte - all have almost the same menu as the main one, only less choice. The worst thing about Italian is that there is absolutely nothing to eat, but it is almost always empty. The main restaurant has a fairly wide selection of dishes from meat, chicken, fish, vegetables, salads, snacks, delicious cheeses, of course olives, a lot of pastries with natural cream cream, oriental sweets. Constantly watermelons, melons and other fruits. In general, the food is in order - you will not stay hungry for sure.
5. Alcohol is also normal - there are local drinks, of very good quality and taste, there are imported ones. The only trouble is with juices - they are none - from UPI and, of course, spoil the taste of cocktails. There is nothing for children to drink, except for lemonades. We bought juice in the market. The staff is kind, friendly, mostly women.
6. The contingent at the hotel is mostly loud Italians, a few Germans, Poles and English, and the rest are Russians.
7. The beach is beautiful, sandy, as we concluded, perhaps the best beach in Kardamena. Basically, the entrance to the water is rocky everywhere.
8. Take excursions in the city - the prices of our guide (beleon tour) differ from local percentages by 100 or more. The bus will pick you up from the hotel and bring you back to the hotel. We also took bicycles in the city - 5 euros (10 euros at the hotel) per day. Souvenirs are cheaper in the village, and there is more choice.
In general, we did without negative points, in general, everything is worthy, in some categories I would put the hotel "5".
