Milan in December is not the most common destination. You may be lucky with the weather, or you may not. It is usually cool to walk without a hat on the street, it often rains or is cloudy. This explains the discounts on air tickets in December, which attract and reassure tourists. But we are lucky! Milan met us with good sunny weather. This is more of an exception to the rule than the norm.

In Kyiv, the trees were bent under the weight of snow, but in Milan it was sunny that day.

Day 1

We arrived on Friday afternoon and took the bus to the city. At the first entrance to the metro, we bought a 48-hour pass for an unlimited number of trips in public transport.

The New Year mood was already in the streets of Milan. Beautiful shop windows and sales, garlands, decorations, lights around every new turn hinted at a special pre-Christmas time in the city. Advent!

Showcases, showcases, showcases. Milan is a trendy city.

This time I want to show our route in pictures with as little text as possible. After all, the journey was very short. We spent the night in Milan for only one night, and spent the second at the airport. Here is what we managed to see during these 1.5 days.

From some metro station, we walked a little to La Scala Theater Square. In the center of the square is a monument to Leonardo da Vinci.

Love at first sight.

We went through the gallery to Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo). This huge square, dominated by the Milan Cathedral, is surrounded by the facades of palaces and the Town Hall. And in the center is a monument to Victor Emmanuel II.

There are also a lot of trams in Milan. A variety of colors and models. You can see four at once in one place.

On one of them we went to the next place to see the famous fresco by Leonardo da Vinci "The Last Supper".

Santa Maria delle Grazia is a beautiful complex with a monastery, a refectory and a courtyard.

Day 2

We were stingy in the morning at the local supermarket. We flew with my mother, each with a bottle of water and a piece of cheese!

We planned to start from the Milan Cathedral, but we weren't allowed on the roof so early. It was necessary to wait until the sun dries the wet surface and it becomes safe there.

There is something to have fun on the square.

We went to the Sforza Castle. On the way, we tried to pay attention to all the details of the city.

A marathon was just taking place near the Sforzesco Castle.

Everyone enjoys the sun on a winter day.

A few hours later we returned to the cathedral and climbed to its roof.

Our program also included the ancient Basilica of Saint Ambrosius.

The inside of the basilica is very beautiful and pleasant.

Before leaving, we once again returned to the main square for beautiful evening shots.

And through Milan Central Station to Bergamo Airport. Departure at 4:00 am.

Early departures at a small airport can spoil the impression of a trip. But we survived.

I can briefly summarize that the trip was good. In winter, Milan is a little gray, but the main sights look impressive. If you want to see the Last Supper fresco, you need to buy tickets online in advance.
