Review of Malta
I rested in Malta from August 27 September to September 14.2008. Before getting ready for the trip, I received information via the Internet and directly by Russians living in Malta and vacationing there. And, nevertheless - so "dumped" !!!! ! St George's Park Complex - 3* in St Julian's
I will not describe the sights of Malta. The country is very interesting and there are many wonderful places.
I will stop at the service, if I may say so.
When choosing a hotel, I was guided by the fact that I was looking for a hotel where there would be a sandy beach nearby, at least a small one. And since I was not going to stay in a hotel, I decided that a three-star hotel (Europe, after all! ) with breakfast would be enough for me. How wrong I was when I chose this hotel!

The surprises started as soon as we arrived. Firstly, in Malta this year it was hotter than usual: +35 C in the shade with high humidity. The flight was from Moscow at 6 o'clock in the morning, we did not sleep all night, given the time difference in Maltese time, we arrived at the hotel at 11.00. And they settle in the room only from 15.00. We handed over things to the storage room, changed clothes and went for a walk, ate at a restaurant. There are just a huge number of them here, prices are the same everywhere, but as it turned out later, it is in this area that the highest prices are. 50 euros, which we must have for each day of our stay in Malta - just right (eat, buy water and fruit, pay for renting an umbrella and sunbed, public transport).
Externally, the hotel seems to be nothing, I liked the picture on the Internet. In fact - not well-groomed, dried flowers in pots, dust and cobwebs all around. See photo. There are three pools. Many hotels have pools only on the roof. Having settled in the room, we found that there was no air conditioning, but there was a heater !!!!!!!!!! , an antediluvian shower with a plastic hose, with one hole, the water is very poorly regulated (each time it took 10 minutes to reach a certain temperature), this shower was not attached anywhere. So, every time it was necessary to make a lot of efforts to water with one hand, and with the other, for example, to wash long hair... The water pressure in the flush tank was also not enough. Curtains in the shower blackened by time. I, accustomed to comfort, called everyone who was possible (manager, plumbers, maids... ) asked, asked to make a device where it was possible to fix the shower handle. They all said in unison that this should not be done. In the end, I forced them, so they nailed this pen to the wall "tightly" !!!!!! ! Other problems arose. And the crane was 3 cm long and very, very low! In general, the desire to wash properly remained only a dream! Only one towel was provided. True, they changed every day, but sometimes when they took away the dirty, they forgot to put in the clean. Once, having already washed, I did not find a single towel. I had to run wet and naked, wrapped in a transparent pareo, along the corridor in search of a maid! The rooms were cleaned very badly!
The most unpleasant thing awaited us at night. Of course, I read that not far from the hotel there is a noisy street where all the discos in Malta are concentrated. But I did not assume that it was practically under my windows. There is almost no vegetation in Malta, there is only one stone around, so any noise only intensifies. All these (as someone counted 18) discos rumbled until 5 o'clock in the morning. And then the cleaners, scavengers, etc. start yelling. In addition, from Friday to Sunday they had a fiesta every 15-20 minutes, lingering fireworks rumbled, and BRASS bands marched down the street all night!!!!!!!! ! Considering the terrible heat, the lack of air conditioning, and this crazy roar, it was impossible to sleep (although we were tired from the road, I plugged my ears with birushki)!
After three sleepless nights, I decided that by the end of the vacation I could go crazy. They called their travel agency. On the same day we were moved to a room opposite overlooking the pool. Slept two nights! This is where our happiness ended. In our large hotel, 90 percent of all residents were 15-18 year old teenagers from different countries (there were no Russians at the hotel at all), who came to study English - complete scumbags - always drunk, stoned and stoned. Usually in all hotels at night you can’t swim in the pools - they are cleaned. But those stupid kids didn't care! From discos they came to the pool - yelled and squealed all night. Attempts by the hotel staff to drive them away were unsuccessful. Several times in the middle of the night I went down to the reception desk demanding to stop this disgrace - it's useless. In addition, they rush through the corridors all night screaming and slamming doors. Parents should look at their children! Now I tell everyone that in no case did they let my children go to study the language.

Breakfasts at the hotel are exactly the same every day: beans, microscopic sausages, an egg, very fatty fried bacon, and apparently the worst cheese and boiled sausage of one kind, jam, butter, water, tea, coffee. Tablecloths on the tables are paper, instead of teaspoons - plastic sticks. No vegetables, no fruits.
In addition to weekends, a car with fruits, vegetables and water came to certain places in the evening. Prices bite. So, for example, 2 peaches, 4 plums and a bottle of still water - 5 euros!
We ate at restaurants. We tried to change them every day. The food is very tasty, the plates are like trays. Not all restaurants have smaller portions (you have to order them). The Russian menu was not met anywhere. The most expensive fish and seafood dishes.
Umbrella on the beach 3 euros, sunbed as well. They wanted to buy an umbrella in shops, but they couldn’t find it anywhere. Apparently they don't sell it. By the way, although it is written everywhere, and my friends said that there is no crime in Malta, a towel on the beach was stolen from my friend. And it must be left under an umbrella when you go out during the day.
Check out from the hotel at 11 o'clock. The travel agency did not warn us that you can pay in advance for another day of stay. We left at 22:25. So I had to while away the time in the shade by the pool. I didn't want to walk anymore, it was too hot.
We also did not manage to fly away from Malta calmly. The driver for us on the minibus did not arrive at the appointed time. We began to call our guide in Malta (we took care of the Maltese SIM card in advance and put money in). The guide assured me for half an hour that he was on his way. But in the end, she came by herself in her car. I tried to find him for a long time, but in vain. As a result, an hour later she took us herself. Tourists from the remaining four hotels traveled on their own, some by taxi, some by passing - which is quite difficult to do. As our guide told us, this happens very often. The Maltese are never in a hurry to go anywhere. The word punctuality is not familiar to them!
If something interests, is ready to share experience.
Svetlana.
