The Sharjah Maritime Museum strives to preserve materials and exhibits of the emirate's rich maritime heritage and to conduct educational activities. The sea has played a key role in the development of Sharjah and was the main reason the first settlers chose the area over 6,000 years ago.

The museum has traditional wooden nautical dhows, various types of which were used for fishing, trading and pearling. Here you can see real Arabian pearls and learn how they were mined, measured and weighed. There is also the opportunity to admire the powerful wooden lifting blocks for raising and lowering the sail and get to know the local fishing traditions.

good museum
My husband and son went to this museum. They said that it was small, well-designed, photos, models, stands. Informative. But the battery of the camera was dead and only one photo came out.→
