Albania, Tirana

Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is the largest church in Albania. It was built in 2012 in Tirana. The opening of the cathedral complex was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the revival of the autocephalous Orthodox Church in Albania. The cathedral is located in the center of Tirana. The residence of the Holy Synod, a chapel, a cathedral, bell towers and a cultural center are located on the territory of the complex.
The cathedral is interesting for its interior decoration and architecture. There are absolutely no icons on the walls. All of them are placed only in the iconostasis. The icons were painted on Mount Athos specifically for this cathedral.
The dome, the domed cross and the roof of the cathedral are covered with red gold. There are 52 bas-reliefs inside the cathedral. The four main columns of the temple are also decorated with bas-reliefs on the themes of scripture.

The western wall of the temple is lined with marble. Above the main entrance is a huge bronze cross.

Unusual Cathedral

Unusual in its architecture, an Orthodox church, and the bell tower is a separately standing high-rise building. Nice place for the Orthodox! Built recently on the site of the old one, destroyed by the former communist regime. Nice interior inside. From the outside, it kind of reminds me of a mosque.→
