The Dominican Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in the historic center of Vienna. The first temple was built in 1237, but it was repeatedly destroyed due to wars and fires. Today's Dominican Church is the third on the site. It was built in 1631-1674 and is considered the most outstanding Baroque church in Vienna.

Dominican Church
The Dominican Order, with the permission of Prince Leopold VI, appeared in Vienna in 1226. By 1237 a monastery with a Romanesque chapel was built. In 1283 the church was built in the Gothic style. Most of it was dismantled during the first Turkish invasion in 1529 and went to strengthen the city walls. In 1631-1634 a new baroque church was built. Construction and decoration of the facade and dome was carried out in 1666-1674. At that time it was the second largest church in Vienna (after St. Stephen's Cathedral).→

When Emperor Leopold invited the Dominicans to Vienna in the 13th century and gave them a piece of land, they built and consecrated the first Dominican church. In the future, after many wars, fires and other disasters, the church was repeatedly restored and restored. Today's version of the temple is the third in a row on this site. Went to church. Silence. Nobody here. And suddenly… the organ starts to play! What a powerful and rich sound! The feeling is like a miracle. The organ plays for me alone in the church! This is something amazing!
