The monument of Christ the Redeemer on top of Mount Corcovado is a symbol of Rio de Janeiro, one of the most famous statues in the world. The construction of the monument, 38 meters high, according to the idea of ​​the artist Carlos Oswald and the project of the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, lasted nine years and was completed in 1931. Inside the basement of the monument, 8 meters high, there is a chapel. From a distance, the monument to Christ the Redeemer resembles a large cross. In 2007, the Brazilian statue of Christ was recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. In addition to the statue itself, tourists are attracted by a breathtaking view, from a height of 700 meters, of the surroundings of Rio with the Maracanã stadium, picturesque beaches and a bay with Sugar Loaf Mountain.

So happen. that we had the good fortune to visit Rio de Janeiro!!! I will write about the city in another section. And now about the statue of Jesus Christ on Mount Corcovado. We lived near the beach of Copacabana, so we came to the mountain by bus. You can get to the top by bus (49 reais), but we decided to go up by train for 51 reais, which is equal to 17 dollars. The views are amazing, I advise you to visit→
