Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Mary

Münster Unserer Lieben Frau, Cathedral of Our Lady
Germany, Lindau
The Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Mary in Lindau has a long history. It was built in the 9th century, but acquired its current appearance in the middle of the 18th century thanks to the work of the architect Johann Kaspar Bagnato, who completely rebuilt the building. The Cathedral is especially beautiful from the inside: the interiors painted in the rococo style and the decor in red and gold tones make a strong impression.

Lindau's main church, built on the site of a burned-out basilica. The airy baroque building, richly decorated with stucco and wall paintings, was the result of the work of Johann Bagnato. Inside the cathedral is very light, and the rococo style is striking in its splendor. The entrance is free.
