The Dali Theatre-Museum is located in Gala Salvador Dali Square, just a stone's throw from the St. Peter's Church. The idea to build an unusual museum in Figueres came to the brilliant artist in 1961, but the museum opened only in 1974.
During 1984, the walls of the building were gradually covered with loaves of peasant bread. In 1983, the adjoining Gorgot House, now known as the Galatea Tower and part of the city's medieval walls, was added to the theatre. Later, the Galetheya tower became the last residence of the artist. According to the artist's order, he was buried here on January 25, 1989. The silhouette of the theater-museum has become a symbol of international pop art.

Theater with eggs

Salvador Dali considered the egg to be the primary source of all things, and not the chicken mentioned in the well-known riddle, what comes first: the egg or the chicken? A man of great talent and great ambition, he placed his favorite eggs around the perimeter of the roof of his Theater in Figueres, where, having become famous and wealthy, he settled for the rest of his days. Judging by the appearance, he did not take any eggs for the sample, but chicken ones. The theater became his home, and then, after his death in this house, a museum and a tomb.→

Technical information. Museum address: Plaza Gala-Salvador Dali, 5. Ticket 12 euros (please note that there is a separate entrance to the jewelry exhibition - it is located 50 meters to the left of the central one, if you face the entrance to the museum). The museum is closed on Monday. Adviсe: 1. Always remember - surrealism is a combination of dream and reality. Art was perceived by the artist as the main tool for the liberation of his own consciousness. Therefore, send logic on vacation and do not try to squeeze Dali's work into the generally accepted framework.→
