Place d'Albert

Place d'Albertas
France, Aix-en-Provence
Place d'Albert dates back to the 17th century, when the Marquis Henri Renaud d'Albert, head of the Provence Court of Accounts, decided to renovate his mansion. To do this, he bought the neighboring houses and demolished them, and a square arose in the vacated place. Since 1912, it has a beautiful fountain created by students of the Aix-en-Provence School of Arts and Crafts.

Jean-Baptiste d'Albert, head of the Chamber of Auditors, bought the buildings adjacent to his mansion and ordered the architect Laurent Vallon to reconstruct the entire square. This is how this elegant little square was born, designed by the then fashionable Parisian architecture of the royal squares. In the center there is a round fountain, the metal crate for which was made by the students of the School of Crafts.
