House Museum of Victor Hugo

Maison de Victor Hugo
France, Paris
The Victor Hugo Museum is located in the apartment that the writer rented in 1832-1848.
Alexandre Dumas “settled” Milady Winter, one of the central characters in his novel The Three Musketeers, in this house. Given the friendship of the writers and Dumas' admiration for Hugo's talent, this fact can be seen as a friendly joke of the author.
The museum opened on June 30, 1903.
Among the exhibits of the museum are drawings and manuscripts of Victor Hugo, copies of the first editions of his works, as well as paintings and sculptures dedicated to the writer.

On one of the beautiful Parisian squares, Place des Vosges, 6, on the second floor of an old mansion, there is an apartment-museum of Victor Hugo. It was opened on the centenary of the birth of Victor Hugo in his former apartment. His friend and executor Paul Meurice bought the mansion and donated books, manuscripts, drawings, personal belongings of the writer, which became the basis of the museum composition. The heavy-framed rooms are hung with paintings by masters, which depict members of his family, famous people and friends of the family, as well as historical moments from various periods.
