Zichy Palace

Zichy-kastély, Zichy Manor in Obud, Castle of the Zichy family
Hungary, Budapest
Zichy Palace was built in 1746-1757 by the architect Henrik Janos Jäger for Count Miklós Zichy. The two-storey baroque palace is located on the banks of the Danube in the Obuda area. The main building was completed in 1752, while the outbuildings were built between 1754 and 1757. Since 1974, the Zichy estate has served as a community center. Here is the Obuda Museum of History, as well as the Museum of the Hungarian writer and artist Lajos Kassak and the Victor Vasarely Museum.

The castle was built in the eighteenth century for a certain Count Mikló s Zichy. Unfortunately, the castle was badly damaged during World War II. Work on its restoration is still underway. However, this place has become a "shelter" for three museums and one cultural center. The trendy Kobuci kert bar (www. kobuci. hu) is located in the courtyard of Zichy Castle, where Hungarian folk stars often perform. On a hot summer day, you can enjoy a glass of cold beer here.
