Piazzale Michelangelo was built in 1869 by the Italian architect Giuseppe Poggi. In the center of the square there are copies of Michelangelo's famous sculptures - the statue of David, as well as copies of four allegory sculptures from the Medici Chapel. A pavilion was built on the opposite side of the river, which was planned to house a museum of Michelangelo's work, but currently it houses the La Loggia restaurant.

Gorgeous panorama of the city
What is now called Michelangelo Square was founded in the 19th century. as a monument and a collection of works of the great classic. The famous David and sculptures from the Medici collection were to be exhibited here. For unknown reasons, the ambitious project was not realized, now there is only a bronze copy of David in the square, and in the house built for the Michelangelo Museum, there is a restaurant. However, the square remains popular, and its terrace offers a magnificent panoramic view of Florence and the Arno Valley.→

Piazza Michelangelo
The square offers a beautiful view of the city. There was no strength to climb the mountain. Therefore, we sat down from the center (Santa Croce district) on bus 13 and drove to the square. We took a photo and went to look for the "Dante's stairs". According to the correct one, one would have to climb it (as in the Divine Comedy). But going down is good - easy, fast. We walked to the bridge, changed it and immediately in the center. Here are two options for how to get to the square. Walking is not far, but uphill.→
