Palace Gallery of Doria Pamphilj

Galleria Doria Pamphilj
Italy, Rome
The Doria-Pamphilj Palace was built in the 15th century. for the Pamphili family, but in the 17th century. he passed as a dowry to the genus Doria. Cardinal Camillo Pamphili created an art gallery in it.
Currently, it houses the Doria-Pamphilj Gallery, whose collection is considered one of the best in Rome. Pope Innocent X, a representative of the Pamphili family, began to collect a collection of art objects. The collection was created by many generations of famous noble dynasties - Pamphili, Landi, Dorio and Aldobrandini, later united by marriage into the Doria-Pamphili family. Now in the palace you can see paintings, sculptures, marble bas-reliefs by Duquesnoy, marble portraits of cardinals, furniture, Roman statues of the ancient period, tapestries and tapestries. The painting collection will impress visitors with a rich collection of Italian paintings of the 17th century. - Works by Velasquez, Caravaggio, Bernini, Raphael, Tintoretto and Titian are exhibited here. Of particular interest is the decoration of the halls of the palace, decorated with tapestries from the time of Louis XIV, Brussels espaliers of the 16th century, furniture and paintings decorated with Florentine mosaics.
Palazzo Doria Pamphili is one of the most notable palaces in Rome and it still belongs to the descendants of the Pamphili family.

The Museum of the Doria Pamphilj family is located in the very center of Rome, not far from the square. Venice. Entrance - 12 euros. There are few visitors, our tourists almost no one goes, but in vain! The museum's collection is one of the richest in Italy, the paintings in the halls hang in four rows (which to some extent interferes with viewing). In Rome, perhaps the Borghese Gallery surpasses the collection of this museum. The museums of Carravaggio alone have 4 paintings, a magnificent portrait of Pope Innocent, the work of Velazquez (many critics consider him the best portrait in the world), the work of Raphael, Titian, Tintoretto, Carraci, Guercino, Bassano, Reni, Lippi, Parmigianino, Domenicano, Bregel the Elder and The Younger, Ribera, Memmling.
