National Museum of Rome

Museo Nazionale Romano, The National Roman Museum, Roman National Museum
Italy, Rome
The National Museum of Rome was opened in 1889 and has one of the richest collections of ancient sculpture. The museum is a complex of four buildings. Palazzo Massimo houses collections of antique and medieval coins and jewels. The Palazzo Altemps presents a collection of antique sculptures of the Ludovisi family, as well as the collections of Mattei, Del Drago, and the Egyptian collection. In the crypt of Balba, excavation materials are exhibited and the history of the development of the city of Rome is presented. In the ancient baths of Diocletian, a collection of manuscripts and sculptures from the period of the Roman Empire is presented.

It is housed in four different buildings. We only went to Palazzo Maximo. I advise for lovers of ancient Roman civilization. The museum is very large, 4.5 hours is the main thing to see.
