The Palace of Culture and Science is the tallest historical monument in Poland. The building has 44 floors, and on the 30th floor, visitors can find an observation terrace located 114 meters above ground level, which offers a panoramic view of Warsaw. PKiN is also called Peking, as the word PKiN sounds quite similar to Beijing in Polish. Wł adysł aw Bronewski, a famous Polish poet and soldier, once called PKiN "The Nightmare of a Drunken Confectioner". It was built in three years under the direction of Soviet architect Lev Rudnev and put into operation in 1955.→
