Equestrian monument, located in front of the Presidential Palace. The monument depicts Prince Jó zef Poniatowski, sitting on a horse and holding a sword in his right hand. The sculpture by Bertel Thorvaldsen was modeled after the statue of Marcus Aurelius on the Capitoline Hill in Rome. Fundraising for the monument began in early 1814, a few months after the prince's death in the Battle of Leipzig.
