Kyzyl Kule Tower

Red Tower, Kızıl Kule, Red Tower, Alanya Ethnographic Museum
Turkey, Alanya
Kyzyl Kule (Red Tower) is one of the main attractions of Alanya. The tower is located in the port of the city. This building of the 13th century is considered a symbol of the city and is even depicted on the flag of the city. It was built in 1226 and is the best preserved Seljuk building in the city.
An octagonal red brick tower protects the arsenal, which dates back to 1221. The height of the structure is 33 meters, the tower has 5 floors. On 85 steps you can climb to the very top. Like many buildings in the city, the Turkish flag flies over the battlements of the tower.
In 1979, the municipality opened the Alanya Ethnographic Museum on the first floor of the tower. In addition to telling about the history of the tower and the city, the museum pays attention to heraldry, in particular, the Seljuk double-headed eagle, which is depicted on the flag.

I reached the tower on foot from the fortress of Ich-Kale, in 35-degree heat! Very tired, but could not visit! So: the first floor is something like a museum, there are several boats from different eras under glass, a pile of cannonballs, a model tower and ...that's it! There is nothing special to watch. The second floor is empty, there are only loopholes. The third is the same. The fourth is the top of the tower, open space, a view of the battlements of the tower and the Turkish flag on one of them.

If you came for photos, then you are here. It offers a beautiful view of the city, Cleopatra beach. The shots are simply amazing. Paid entrance. The area itself is nothing special, the usual ruins. For the sake of the photo it is definitely worth a visit.

Rise to the height of the 6th floor under the scorching sun, on steep steps, in order to contemplate the views of the city and the sea. I do not advise doing this in the middle of the day, it is better early in the morning and still take a large amount of water while you are walking, it will definitely come in handy.

Inside the museum, but there is almost nothing to see. In order to occupy yourself with something, stretch your legs and look at Alanya from a different point of view - it’s quite suitable, but not so impressed wow!

Someone ascribes to her the first place, but for me it is a solid second place in the list of attractions in Alanya. For those who know how to use a camera, this will be a heavenly location. Warning for older people - very steep steps. In any case, it is better to be in comfortable shoes, and in good physical shape. Inside the tower is a museum that didn't impress. Beautiful, worth a visit.
