Hadrian's Gate

Hadrian's Gate, Hadrianus Gate, Üçkapılar
Turkey, Antalya
Hadrian's Gate or Üçkapılar which means "Three Gates" is a triumphal arch that was built in the name of the Roman Emperor Hadrian who visited Antalya in 130. It consists of three arched gates. According to legend, Belkis, the Queen of Sheba passed under this gate during a stop at the palace in Aspendos on her way to King Solomon.
On the other side of the gate are two towers. The south one is called the tower of St. Julia and was built during the era of Hadrian. The base of the northern tower was built in ancient times, and the upper part in the time of the Seljuk.

Good day to all. I would like to tell you about our visit to the landmark and historical site in Antalya, Hadrian's Gate. We rested at the Siam Elegance Hotel & Spa in Bogaskent. One day we decided to have some fun and visit this monument of ancient architecture. We rented a car at the hotel ($40 per day) and drove to Antalya. A visit to the amphitheater in Aspendos and shopping was planned, so it was dark at Hadrian's Gate. The rhythm of movement in Antalya is quite peculiar. Understanding the rules of the road among the local population is still something In the old part of the city, where this architectural monument is located, the streets are narrow, and this also applies to the roadway.

There are not many places on the planet where really ancient monuments of architecture have been preserved. And it may happen that your great-grandchildren will no longer be able to see them, and you will pass on family photos from the past. So a must visit. And if you ever happen to visit Croatia and get to the city of Split, then look at the remains of Hadrian's Palace.

Located 10 minutes from the old market. Very beautiful! They lead to the historical part of the city and are very well preserved. In the evening, they are illuminated and encourage you to take a couple of postcard photos.

A very ancient monument that has survived to this day. Located in the center of Antalya. After passing the "Gate of Hadrian" you find yourself in the old city "Kaleichi" ....... .
