Ancient city of Mira

Ruins of Myra, Myra Örenyeri
Turkey, Kemer
Mira is an ancient city located just 2.5 km from Demre and 5 km from the Mediterranean Sea. From the ancient city itself, only the ruins of the Greco-Roman amphitheater and tombs carved high in the rocks remained. The city is popular primarily among believers. Saint Nicholas lived and was buried here, and according to legend, in the harbor, near Mira, the Apostle Paul stopped before his departure to Rome.

I visited the Lycian tombs or the necropolis during my vacation in Turkey. It was a long drive to Side, but it was worth it. Already on the way to the territory of the tombs, one feels some kind of special atmosphere, it is difficult to describe it in words. And despite the fact that you can’t enter the tombs themselves, you still seem to be in ancient times. Nearby is an ancient amphitheater. You can walk everywhere there, check the acoustics, take cool photos)) Feel yourself in a small Coliseum)).

Very cool place, great atmosphere. They climbed to the very top of the amphitheater, sang below, tested the legend of audibility. We went with a tour, and then we went on a boat
