The Chiang Kai-shek memorial is located in the western part of the city. It was opened on April 5, 1980, 5 years after the President's death. The white memorial building with a blue roof houses a bronze statue of Chiang Kai-shek. There is also a museum, which contains exhibits, one way or another connected with the president, and a huge library. At the main entrance to the memorial square, there is a beautiful arch 30 meters high and 80 meters wide, made in the Chinese style.
