The Imperial Palace Museum is located in the northern part of the city. It contains the richest collection of items (more than 700 thousand) Forbidden City Palace Complex, brought here in 1948 during the civil war. Among the exhibits of the museum are old books, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, porcelain, metals and jade, archival documents and much more. The museum has a beautiful traditional Chinese garden.
