The Blue Mosque is one of the relatively new mosques in Zanzibar. It was built in 1995. Its construction was preceded by a rather interesting story. In the 70s of the last century, the government of Zanzibar decided to build a people's pool for the locals. For these purposes, the site of the former, (destroyed) mosque was chosen. For 20 years, local authorities have been trying with all their might to bring this idea to life, but the water in the built pool did not hold water, it constantly leaked. After 20 years of efforts, it was decided to stop the construction of the pool and build a mosque in its place.

Beautiful place

Small beautiful mosque. Located in Stonetown. The peculiarity of this mosque is that the minaret is in the water. The mosque offers a beautiful view of the reservoir. The mosque is made in white and blue colors. The interior of the mosque is in Arabic style. Do you want to see with your own eyes?
