Zanzibar Land Animal Park (ZALA),

Zoo Zala was built on the initiative of local teacher Muhamed. Mohammed maintains a collection of various endangered animals. The idea of creating a zoo initially consisted in the fact that local schoolchildren could visit it and thereby promote humane treatment of animals among children. It is known that a lot of animals die in Zanzibar. The locals kill them for pleasure or out of fear or superstition. Lizards, monitor lizards, antelopes, zebras, turtles, chameleons, pelicans, crocodiles, ostriches, monkeys live in the park. In addition to animal enclosures, there is also a nature trail through the mangroves.

Wonderful place!

Wonderful place! Zala Zoo is a place little known among tourists, but no less beautiful for that. The zoo is small. Lions, tigers, zebras, various reptiles, pelicans, monkeys live here. It has one distinctive feature. Persons over 15 years old, under the supervision of employees, can enter the enclosures for lions, zebras, crocodiles and other inhabitants of this place.→
