The building of the Chernivtsi City Hall is the main building of the Central Square architectural ensemble, an architectural monument of national importance. The solemn start of construction took place on April 19, 1843, in the presence of local authorities, representatives of the clergy of various religious denominations, and the city community. Gold coins and parchment with a message for posterity were placed in a special niche. The three-story building was built in the style of late classicism with elements of the Renaissance.

A clock is installed on the 50-meter two-tier town hall tower, the second clock is on the pediment of the building. Every day at 12.00, a trumpeter plays the melody of the famous song "Marichka" from the balcony of the town hall. By prior arrangement with the Tourist Information Center of Chernivtsi for a group of up to 5 people, it is possible to climb to the observation deck, which offers a wonderful panorama of the city and its surroundings. Currently, the Chernivtsi City Council sits in the town hall building.
