The Citadel is a fortification located in the city center near the Vasily Stefanyk Lviv Scientific Library. They were built by the Austrians in the middle of the 19th century from red brick. During World War II, the Nazis set up a POW camp here.

At present, a three-story barracks building and six towers remain from the fortifications of the Citadel.
