The historical and architectural complex "Passage" was built in 1898-1899 by order of the merchant Moisei Yakovlevich Mendelevich. The building stretched for almost a quarter between Preobrazhenskaya and Deribasovskaya streets. The complex has a pronounced Art Nouveau style; the figured groups of Mercury and Fortune are repeatedly repeated in the decor elements. The first floors of the building were originally equipped as trading places. The hotel of the same name is located on the upper floors of the Passage complex.

Beauty is a terrible force :)
I often cut a corner through the Passage when I want to quickly get from Deribasovskaya to Soborka (Cathedral Square). I like the Passage - it is light, light, weightless. The abundance and detail of the modeling delights not only people, but also the pigeons living here. Unfortunately, the latter, unlike representatives of the human race, do not know how to restrain their emotions and crap with delight right on the heads of gypsum cupids: Thanks to the efforts of pigeons and cheap paint, it acquires its "usual" shabby look.→

Incredible place. The splendor of the architecture of old Odessa. Of course, it requires restoration, like many monuments in this city, but this does not stop breathing greatness on its visitors.→

Ambiguous
The whole old part of Odessa impresses with its stucco, luxury, uniqueness, and beauty. But how amazing it is that it is worth looking inside one of these beautiful courtyards and you see a wrecked, which, no one knows how, is still standing. Same here. Decorations, all these small details can be seen for hours, but it is clear that the old building is screaming for help and the need for restoration.→
