Nha Trang Cathedral

Nha Trang Cathedral
Vietnam, Nha Trang
In the 1930s, the residence of the Catholic Bishop was built in Nha Trang. It is made in the style of provincial French Gothic. Today, the cathedral houses the residence of the Bishop of Nha Trang. To make room for the future cathedral, Archbishop Louis Vale demolished the top of the rock with 500 mines, resulting in a flat surface of 4,500 square meters. m.

The reinforced concrete cathedral began to be built on September 3, 1928, and in March 1934 huge colored stained-glass windows were installed, which brought great fame to the temple. The cathedral, which is 38 meters high, has 3 large bells donated by the famous Bordon bell casting company. The clock on the main tower appeared in December 1935. In 1988, the Catholic cemetery at the cathedral was exhumed to make way for the construction of a new railway station. The graves were moved to niches in the walls of the cathedral, marked with memorial plaques.
