All rooms overlook the ocean, but even in summer it does not warm up above 20 degrees. You don't buy. The balcony overlooks a green lawn with sunbeds. There is a pool but it is small. As such, the hotel has no territory. Wide strip of sand on Praia da Rocha beach. You can go on an excursion to the extreme southwestern point of Europe, Cape San Vicente in Sagris, to Lagos and to Spain, to Seville. There is no wi-fi in the room, only at the reception and by the pool. They promised to fix it, but no.

I really liked the hotel. The rooms are large, with a kitchenette, the bathroom is spacious with two sinks. Cleaned every day and towels changed every day too. The territory is well-groomed, cozy, although the pool is small, but never many people swam in it. The staff is friendly. A room with a sea view was not given immediately, but only the next day after an insistent request to change the original room with a view of the kitchen premises and a buzzing chimney to something more worthy. … More ▾ I really liked the hotel. A room with a sea view was not given immediately, but only the next day after an insistent request to change the original room with a view of the kitchen premises and a buzzing chimney to something more worthy.
A minor drawback of the hotel is some worn-out common areas - they would not have been damaged by cosmetic repairs, but everything in the rooms looked decent.
Breakfast - a solid European buffet (scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, beans, fruits, buns (including sometimes traditional Portuguese ones with marzipan, cinnamon), cheese, sausage, juices, muesli).
The beach is right in front of the hotel, it is huge and clean, but the ocean is cold. Moreover, the temperature of the water changed every day: it seems like you can swim, otherwise you will come in - and immediately your legs are cramping.
During the rest we went on a cruise along the grottoes along the coast (we met numerous groups of dolphins) and to the Spanish Seville.

This is a small and quiet town with many restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, the ancient Santa Catarina Fort, and a yacht club. The Oriental is at the end of the main promenade, so it's quite calm and quiet in the evening. The hotel is nice, interesting architecture (Moorish style), different from all other hotels and villas. The rooms are spacious, all with a balcony (side and frontal sea view), there is a small kitchen fully equipped (pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, forks, knives. . . ) The rooms were cleaned well and quickly. We left for breakfast, and when we returned, the room had already been cleaned. We only had breakfast. Breakfast included the following: different cheeses, sausage and ham, several types of muesli, scrambled eggs, sausages, fried tomatoes, yogurt, various fresh fruits, juices, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, honey and jam, buns and muffins. The beach is huge, wide, as in the Brazilian TV series, to the water from the hotel go 250 meters. The water was cold, the first days no one swam at all. We still dared to plunge, but immediately back. In general, the water has never been more than 18-19 degrees. The pool at the hotel is small, there are sun loungers around. On the other side of the hotel there is also a lawn with sun loungers, a small playground. In the evenings, people walk along the promenade back and forth, in the center (200 meters from the hotel) all sorts of entertainment, dancing, bars with different music and karaoke. A cute train rides around the town, we enjoyed a ride. We went to Seville, Monchique (a thermal resort, a very pleasant place, reminded us of Madeira), Cape San Vincent, Portimã o, etc. In Portimao there is a large supermarket that has everything, and in Praia da Rocha there are only small shops, and of course everything is more expensive. In general, we are satisfied with the rest, but it was better in Madeira.

The location of the hotel is simply incomparable, the first line on the ocean, swimming in the pool you can enjoy a wonderful view of the ocean and the beach, because. the hotel is located on a hill and from it (from all rooms) you have a stunning view of the ocean. A staircase of 57 steps leads to the beach, a little steep, but you quickly get used to it, as soon as you go down the stairs you get to the sandy beach, first you go along the wooden path, and then to the water along the sand. … More ▾ The location of the hotel is simply incomparable, the first line on the ocean, swimming in the pool you can enjoy a wonderful view of the ocean and the beach, because. the hotel is located on a hill and from it (from all rooms) you have a stunning view of the ocean. The hotel is the last in the line of hotels and therefore far from noise, if you take a more central hotel (for example, Jupiter), then it is noisy there in the evening due to bars-discos-loitering people, and Oriental is a little away, so you can sleep with an open balcony under the sound of the ocean, there are no discos nearby. In general, everything is nearby and it takes about three minutes to walk to restaurants and bars, and seven to ten minutes to the busiest place on the street.
The city of Portimã o is not very close, of course you can walk on foot, but far away, better by shuttle bus. There is not much interesting to see in the city itself, but it’s worth going to the market, fruits are cheaper there and there is always freshly caught fish, and one that you will never find here for any money, I highly recommend trying the saber fish delicacy, The hotel room has a kitchen and everything you need to cook.
There is a large Continent supermarket in Portimao, like our Mega, clothes, appliances and food, everything is there.
Prices in Portugal are generally much lower than in Moscow, for example, if you don’t take tourist crowds, of course, where prices are exorbitantly inflated.
The territory is quite large, green and well-groomed, especially compared to other hotels. You can sunbathe around the pool, as well as on a special lawn under palm trees, there is a playground. There are no shops on the territory, but it is enough to leave the hotel and here you will find a lot of different shops. Internet in the hotel lobby is paid.
This is probably the best room we have ever stayed in. The best part was that it has its own kitchen with a sink, stove, extractor fan, pans, pots and everything else you need to prepare a meal. The room is big! In fact, it does not look like an ordinary hotel room, in general, an oriental-style hotel and everything in it is original, from the facade to every little thing. Spacious bathroom with two sinks and everything you need. We had a balcony overlooking the garden and the marina, a side view of the sea. Super easy, love it. The air conditioner works well, but we slept with an open balcony and breathed the sea air, in September it was not hot and the wind blew constantly, so the air conditioner was not needed.
Cleaned every day, no complaints.
Normal staff, English-speaking, polite, will answer all questions and tell you everything you want.
No one speaks Russian in Portugal at all, this is not Turkey or Egypt, so take at least an English phrase book with you if you do not speak languages. All employees of the tour industry and hotel staff, as well as young people, speak English well, but those who do not speak any languages will still explain everything very friendly and bring you to the right place almost by the hand, the Portuguese are the nicest people mostly.
I was not particularly interested in sports, to be honest, so I can’t say anything. On the beach there are water activities as usual, well, there are boats, banana, boats, parachutes and all that, everything is expensive.
We took only breakfast and for 11 days we were not tired of breakfast at all, so everything is fine, the buffet is varied.
The ocean is something! I have never seen such a HUGE beach with white clean sand and such beautiful sunsets anywhere else! Sunbathing and walking along the water along the beach is just right, but swimming... Well, this is the ocean, well, it's cold! I honestly got in to check in exactly twice - on the first and last day.
although our compatriots freely jumped on the waves. Honestly, the water is ice cold. Although, they say, usually it is much warmer, so how lucky.
By the way, the water in the pool is unheated and almost as cold as the ocean.
Perhaps it was the only minutes of our vacation.
There is no animation, which we personally were very pleased with.
There is live music in the evenings at dinner and then not every day, although in the summer it can be more fun, we were at the end of the season.
We were without children, I can not say anything. There is a playground in the hotel, but I have never seen children there, however, there were few of them at all.
Just a fabulous hotel for a good rest of the soul and body, I recommend it to everyone.
In general, Portugal is a wonderful country that you want to return to more than once, but you should definitely see Lisbon and other cities, because. if you lie on the beach all your vacation, then you will regret that you didn’t see all these beauties, it’s really worth seeing!
Good luck to all.
