My wife and I rested at the Thavorn Palm Beach Hotel at the end of January 2012. We fell into a fairy tale! The nature is super, the sea is clean, calm, there was no rain at a temperature of +3.0C. There was a small problem with the check-in, due to the discrepancy between the number of guests and the number of available rooms. We spent the first night in a terrible corner room on the first floor next to a concrete fence, but in the morning the issue was resolved, and we were moved to the second floor overlooking the sea and one of the pools. It's time to break the whole "standard" room stock, the first floor sucks. TV with two Russian channels. Air conditioning cools, but we did not regulate it. Do not be surprised by the high level of water in the toilet, this is the norm here. The deluxe rooms are quite decent for a 4*, but with old furniture. Reception architecture is very unusual. Valuables and documents were kept in a safe at the reception on bail, where you can also exchange dollars and euros for baht. Everywhere in shops, cafes, etc. you need to pay in baht.
The territory of the hotel impresses with its size, well-groomed, many sculptures and decorations. In the reception area, rabbits and a rooster with hens live in thickets. There is a beautiful orchid garden, several nice pools, in which we have never swum. Everywhere is clean, staff are great. There is no animation, only a small ensemble plays in a Mexican restaurant, it is quite pleasant to have dinner with a glass of wine. The cost of dinner is a little more expensive compared to those on the waterfront. So this hotel is for a relaxing holiday, and not for those who need to "break away" at night.
In this hotel, meals are only BB - - breakfast (buffet) is included in the price. Additional meals for a fee in the restaurants and bars of the hotel. Excellent European breakfasts, there are also Thai dishes, lots of fruits and juices. After breakfast at 9 o'clock, I did not want to eat until 3-4 o'clock. At lunch, you can take something in a cafe on the beach, but after 5-6 pm, take a shower and walk around the town. Sometimes we went for lunch and dinner. There are many restaurants on the street along the embankment, where you can have dinner for two with beer or wine somewhere for 800-1000 baht (rubles). They cook very tasty, especially fresh seafood. On the same street near the "makashnitsa" they tried freshly baked pancakes with bananas - not bad at all. Fruits can be bought in stalls or in the market.

Karon Municipal Beach across the road from the hotel is impressive - 3 km long and 30 meters wide of clean, creaky sand. There are sun loungers with umbrellas in two rows, there are always places at any time. The water is clean, small fish swim in flocks, on one of the days of rest there were jellyfish. The entry into the sea-okian is quite smooth, somewhere around 10-15 meters across the chest. Umbrella with sunbeds are paid, 100 baht for 1 sunbed per day. Souvenir vendors, clothing vendors, leather goods vendors, etc. walk along the beach and don't bother unless you stop them. Without bargaining, we bought a broom for 100 baht, and then we saw it in the store for 60 baht, so bargain - they are decently inferior. The beach is cleaned daily from the garbage left by some "tourists". There is no water entertainment base on Karon, only visitors are visible from Patong or Kata.
We went on a full day excursion to the mainland. We visited two Buddha temples, rafted down the river with a stop for tea, then lunch and elephant riding in the jungle. A lot of impressions.
Rating: standard room 3, hotel territory 5+, breakfast and service 5, nature, sea and beach 5+.
