We were in Phuket at Kata Beach Resort & Spa from 07/25/2009 to 08/08/2009 in the midst of the rainy season! For 11 days it rained for 20 minutes, after which the sun shone again, sometimes hiding behind a blanket of clouds! We thought that since the sun is behind the clouds, we do not sunbathe and therefore did not smear ourselves with creams. But in vain! For 5 days Panthenol was my body's best friend! If you are traveling for 10 days, 1 bottle will not be enough for you, and in Thai pharmacies, apart from aloe vera, they will not give you anything else!
Now everything is in order!
1) Guides from Sayama Travel met us! Everything is fine, they took us, told us, gave us a SIM card of a mob operator, a schedule of excursions, helped us check into a hotel (we didn’t even wait 5 minutes! Volodya the guide (he is from Ternopil) filled out all the questionnaires).
2) The Kata Beach Resort &SPA hotel pleased us with unobtrusive staff, just super rooms with balconies and all the necessary accessories (hairdryer in the bathroom, dryer for wet clothes on the balcony, shampoos, creams, shower gels, soap !! ! Everything was changed and delivered EVERY day, even without a tip! ) No, no one lined the swans on the bed for us, but they cleaned it with high quality and, most importantly, when we were not there! This is not for you the Arabs who enter the room without knocking, wake you up and say that they have come to clean! This happened to us many times in Egypt!
3) Food. We only took breakfast. And they didn't fail! The breakfast is wonderful. One of the tourists writes that breakfast is monotonous and there is nothing to eat at all, but I'll tell you what! All kinds of dry breakfasts, cereals, muesli! Different! You won't find them here, but they have everything! To them milk, delicious yoghurts! Vegetables: cherry tomatoes, all kinds of green salads: iceberg, ordinary lettuce, spinach, peeled cucumbers. Sauces for salads! We collected vegetables, poured sauce and you have a fresh salad! No leaky salads and God forbid yesterday's! Bread, croissants, jams (kudos to their pineapple jam), toaster machine for croutons and toasters!
The best part was the fresh omelet with bacon, which is made by a Thai boy right at my request! With onions, cheese, tomatoes! 2 minutes and you are the happy owner of fried eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, eggnog! Everything is for you! Rice, pasta, stewed vegetables, sausages (not SOY! But chicken sausages! ) cold cuts, cheese, spinach with tomatoes! Few? Which gluttons don't have enough food in the morning? ? You be the judge! We were full until late lunch! BUT!! ! Fruit! Pineapple - in any quantity, papaya, rambutans, bananas (but for some reason there were very few of them! ) lime, watermelon! That's probably all!
4) Beach! It's just class! There are 3 biggest beaches on the island: Patong, Karon, Kata! So Kata is the quietest, cleanest, small waves, just right for people! In the photo you can evaluate this beach for yourself!
5) Entertainment! Opposite the hotel is a street with restaurants (well, it's hard to call them restaurants; ) bars, massage parlors, shops, motorbike rental, souvenirs!
6) Souvenirs, clothes!
At first we decided that it would be cheaper in Patong and there would be more choice, but we were convinced that the Thais are more arrogant there and do not want to bargain like in Katya! There are 10 times fewer people on Katya than on Patong, which is why they bargain willingly, do not wave their hands and do not cry that you are ruining them; Things - rags are not of very good quality, but we were still lucky enough to find a couple of decent T-shirts! T-shirts, dresses, wallet! Everything, nothing more worthy was found; From souvenirs: a plate of half a coconut, a mango tree vase, 4 candles - well, very beautiful, magnets, wooden elephants! All somewhere for 3-4 $!
7) Rent a motorbike!
We paid 200 bt = 3.5 USD per day + 2 USD per person got benz! We drove around the northeast coast of the island! Make sure you choose the best hotel! ; The movement is right-handed, the signs are not understood; Scary; But no one else will take you around the island like that!
8) Excursions!
What was disappointing was the excursion to Phi Phi; Of course, we didn’t buy it from a guide for 3.300 BT (100 cu), but went to a tour agency on the street and bargained not for 2800 BT, as it was written in the program, but for 1700 per person! $51! The storm was strong, we rode the speedboat not for 45 minutes, but for 20 hours on terrible waves, if you do not have seasickness, then you will get it! After the trip, we decided that we need to go on excursions in the season! When the ocean sleeps!
