Traveled to Tunisia from August 23 to September 6.2007.
When we arrived in Monastir, Tunisia met us with 29 degrees Celsius and clouds, but it was only 1 day, then everything got better, but Turkey is still warmer! We drove from the airport to the hotels. It is immediately evident that the city is dirty, there is a lot of garbage.
Our hotel is located in the city of Sousse. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were told that there were no places in our hotel where we bought a ticket (Marhaba Salem, 3 stars) and we would be accommodated for 3 days in another, which is located on our own territory, this is Blue Star, 4 stars. We liked the room, the balcony overlooking the sea. Yes, it's gorgeous, but the problem is that you have to sit on your suitcases for these 3 days, it turns out that you really can't make out things. We talked with the guide Olya, we were allowed to stay in this hotel so as not to move anywhere. Olya is a very good person, sympathetic, understanding, a guide from Capital Tour, a meeting side of Aquasan. At the same time, we ate at a 4-star hotel, also on this territory, Royal Salem, and lived in Blue Star and, accordingly, could use all the delights of the territory, since we had all inclusive.

After 2 days in the morning we went to breakfast, all our things were as usual. In order not to take my phones with me and not to take my handbag, I put them on the table, they always lay there. They closed the door, handed over the keys to the reception, an hour later they returned to the room and immediately discovered that 2 phones had been stolen from us. I ran to the guide, filed a missing persons report, even spent half a day at the police station, all to no avail. I did my best to return the phones, but it was useless. We were given only a piece of paper in Arabic that our phones had indeed been stolen. And it feels like the hotel staff, manager, director do not need it, they do not value the reputation of the hotel. They themselves had to call the police here, but they said, if you want, then you yourself will go there and do everything, while, of course, a guide must be present.
And I also understand the fact that without knowing English there is nothing to do there, while in Tunisia there are two running languages - English, French, and, of course, Arabic. Naturally, the mood is gone. As it turned out a little later, in the morning when we went to breakfast, we met plumbers, there was a sweat in the rooms on the first floor, it turns out that there was a flood on the 3rd floor, and we lived on the second. Most likely, the plumbers stole the phones, went to the numbers, checked if everything was normal everywhere, if there was a leak somewhere. When we rested in Turkey, things could easily be left in the room in the bedside tables, on the bedside tables, no one ever took them.
What is even more surprising is that on my table, which stood next to the table where the phones were, there was a camera, they did not take it.
The next day we went on a two-day excursion to the Sahara. The Sahara is extraordinary, for this I came to Tunisia, I still remember this time when we were there. The beauty! We visited the third world largest Colosseum, were in various other places, saw palm, date groves, oases, a waterfall where you can swim. We tried tea with pine nuts - very tasty! They ate cactus fruits - sweet, but small bones inside, I can’t even say what it looks like, maybe on a mango.
Tip - who will go on excursions, take bottles of water with you. In the evening we rode camels, watched the sunset in the desert, and in the morning we met the dawn on the Salt Lake. Extraordinary spectacle!!!!!

When they returned from the Sahara, several days passed and again an unpleasant adventure happened. At night, when we were sleeping, there was a flood in our room, the pipe in the bathroom burst, there was a lot of water on the floor, we woke up from a loud noise. In 10 minutes we collected our things in Spartan conditions. They gave us another room, and they said that in the evening they would put us in another room or back to the same one, where there was a flood, this time our patience ran out, we didn’t sleep for half the night, and then they don’t want to settle us in a normal room.
They had to take care of it right away, they had to carry us in their arms, still ask for forgiveness for everything, because the flood happened in their hotel through no fault of ours, while many things could have deteriorated, since there was water in the whole room, and through 2 hours we had to go on an excursion to Carthage, there are already not enough nerves for anything, not before the excursion. We think that when we arrive from the excursion, but our suitcases will not be there. They called the guide in the morning, asking to be left in this room, why else move, there are still a few days left, and we will go home, especially since so many troubles fell on our heads at once during one vacation! On the tour, of course, it was not before that, everyone thought about the sleepless night and the flood.
I liked it very much in Carthage, it reminds me of the ruins of the city of Chersonesus in the Crimea. The Bardo Museum was very boring and uninteresting, there is a mosaic. And the city of Sidi Bou Said exceeded all my expectations - it's a blue and white fairy tale, beautiful! Flowers on the houses, freshness, a beautiful view of the sea, a very nice city. When we arrived after the tour, we immediately went to the reception desk to find out about the room, we were immediately allowed to stay in it without talking.
On the last day we went on an excursion to the zoo. Of course, their zoo can not be compared with Moscow. They have large enclosures, it's beautiful there, different paths, sheds, benches carved very beautifully. Garbage bins are so hateful in the form of jugs that it should be so. Animals are well cared for. Indeed, after them, you won’t want to go to the Moscow Zoo at all, heaven and earth.

After the zoo there was a folklore evening with African dances. I also liked it very much. Although when we sat down at the table, it was full of ants and instead of watching the performance, we sat and crushed them all over the table, but, nevertheless, we liked the dances, informative!
The territory of the hotel is huge, very beautiful, every morning they clean it, water the vegetation, and there is a lot of it! The sea is gorgeous, white sand, mushroom umbrellas - everything you need for happiness, paradise. But: there are jellyfish in the sea, they bite painfully and unpleasantly, a burn may remain. Because of them, you are already afraid to go into the sea. Although when I was choosing a place for a holiday country and a hotel, I read reviews, I didn’t hear anything about jellyfish. And instead of swimming in the sea, for the sake of it, you go on vacation, you had to spend most of the days in a salt water pool, although this is not the sea, it’s still not bad, it’s also cool.
There are 4 pools on the territory of the hotel, but I swam only in one, where the Blue Star hotel, there is a jacuzzi in the pool itself, slides. On the territory there are golf courses, table tennis. The disco takes place in the club on the territory of the hotel. Arabs are clingy, but not all.
We went for a walk in Port El Kantaoui, it is very beautiful there, the embankment, where there are different yachts, trees, bushes, trimmed very beautifully. You can also ride on a pirate ship there.
The hotel has a snack bar - free of charge, there is a Mauritanian cafe, but it is for a fee. The hotel complex operates an all-inclusive and half board system. If the system is all inclusive, then you can use all the services of the hotel for free, only breakfast, lunch and dinner in your restaurant. In the evenings, the hotel hosts a children's disco, animation, live music, songs, there is a night disco.
Many foreigners, while we were there, there were few Russians, it was rare to hear Russian speech. Lots of French, Poles, Spaniards, Germans.

I can’t say yet whether I liked Tunisia or not, there are pluses and minuses. The most important thing - I saw what I wanted, for the sake of which I came here - this is the Sahara and the zoo. I do not regret a bit that I went to rest in this country. But for myself I decided that I would not go to Tunisia anymore!
