This year we were lucky enough to visit this cozy place, which is located 8 km. from Marmaris.

let it be previously considered part of Marmaris, but now this is a separate settlement with "his face", not at all like Marmaris. Marmaris for youth fun, nightlife (and the beaches here are so-so, not impressed). And, Icmeler is more calm and measured, just for a beach holiday without tension.

 At the same time, Icmeler is very pleasant and attractive, walking here is a pleasure, unless, of course, it is too hot!

We immediately fell in love with this place.

In some places the town looks like Venice - there are 2 canals with boats on the territory of the resort. One is called the Venice Canal. Bridges are thrown over it, along the edges there is a lot of greenery and beautiful pink bushes, and other flowering beauty. In general, clean, beautiful - especially near the embankment.

In general, the village has a very pleasant atmosphere. It is calmer and cleaner than Marmaris and is located in a picturesque small bay at the foot of the green and flowery slopes of the mountains (an ideal place for allergy sufferers and asthmatics).

We got here from Marmaris by minibus (dolmush) for 3 lira. The minibus runs from the Fountain Square in Marmaris parallel to the embankment and there are no problems getting into it. Also, a boat runs between the resorts, which costs 20 lira (although more expensive, but a very pleasant boat trip for 25 minutes, so you can and should ride once).

There are options for every taste and budget.

The name Ichmeler is translated as "drinking water" (because by rumors there are mineral springs, but we did not find them, although they did not look for). In general, the water is good here - the beautiful sea, protected by islands from the waves, is much cleaner than in Marmaris itself. Ideal for a beach holiday.

and the beaches here are sandy, sandy-pebble (fine-pebble), comfortable for driving barefoot. Although there may be boulders in the water (but we did not come across).

Promenade parallel to the beach from Nirvana Beach (until the beach is free) to the last hotel in Icmeler - approx. 2 km. Those. quite spacious.

There are paid beaches (from cafes - for a drink), there are also so-called Halk (Hulk - Wild) free.

The farther from Marmaris, the more wild, completely natural, deserted beaches, but boulder.

On the other hand, the water is a turquoise fairy tale and you can see the seabed. Here the depth is quickly reached (be careful with children! ). And in general - a mask for swimming is useful here. And Icmeler is praised as the best diving spot in Turkey.

People worry like here with the weather, I can say that at that time we traveled (the end of May 2018) everything was perfect - pleasantly hot and warm (but, not too) refreshing water in the sea. We were constantly swimming and it was nice.

As a digression, I will say that according to information from various sites (and according to local residents), the tourist season lasts from May to October, when the air warms up to +25... +30, and the water in the sea is comfortable for swimming. In July-August during the day +32 and above. In general, June and September are the best option, but not mandatory. You can safely go in May, you can also in early October.

Attractions in Ichmeler are not available, but, you can order excursions and go, for example, to the Greek Island of Rhodes. And after a while, analyzing the situation, I can say that while living in Icmeler, one could also go to the classic Turkish village on the seashore - Orhaniye, where there are beautiful beaches and forests (and a fortress + several hotels), + the famous underwater Kirzkumu spit (Kizkumu - “maiden sand”), 600 meters long, on which you can make a wish (it will come true if you go through the entire spit and return).

Not far away are the ruins of the ancient city of Hidas (near the village of Selimiye).

Further, i. e. in the surrounding area is the village of Turuncem (there are also the remains of the city of Amos nearby and this place has been awarded the "blue flag" for the purity of the water). And behind it is the village of Kumlubuk (beautiful beaches and landscapes). Both have caves with stalactites and stalagmites. You can also get to these villages by boat (like the price is from 12.5 lire one way). Boats run from the pier on the embankment (not in the port).

In general, while relaxing in Icmeler, you can always find something to see not far away and distract from a carefree beach holiday. Although, I don’t want to do this - I want to bask in the water.

Good here and with infrastructure. Everything you need is there (including ATMs) and it is also compact: you can easily get everywhere on foot. Along the embankment (in the village itself) there are several free wc (and even with a shower, not far from the port and the beginning of the embankment). More paid.

In addition, of course, there are shops and exchange offices (where the rate was better than in Marmaris). It was also cheaper to eat here than in Marmaris.

According to rumors, every Wednesday at the intersection of roads leading to Marmaris and the village of Turunc (em), a food and clothing market opens (but this has not been verified).

In addition, it is believed that hotels in Icmeler are better than in Marmaris (as they were built later and according to modern requirements) with a large territory. Mostly fashionable, but there seem to be cheaper ones (judging by the map, there are a lot of 3 and 2).

At the at least, there is a category of hotels that is located along the promenade between Icmeler and Marmaris. In their own way, these are very interesting options, because they stand in a pine forest and next to their beach. The village is more crowded, but here no one will bother you, except for those who walk along the embankment (promenade).

Simply Turkish Venice

When choosing a hotel in Marmaris, look at the map: where is it? Maybe in Icmeler, or maybe on the waterfront (for those who want nightly stormy entertainment, this will not be very convenient). Of course, I would choose a hotel in the village with HB meals, since lunches at the cafe on the waterfront are very pleasant and not expensive.
