I'm going on vacation! My vacation is small, only 5 days, but I’m going to the Ternopil region to the recreation center “Nad Strypoyu”! And just before leaving, they tell me that a “surprise” awaits me.

Getting from Kyiv is not difficult, you just need to buy a train ticket to Ternopil. Night on the road, and in the morning at the train station in Ternopil, I personally feel like I'm on vacation. Employees of the recreation center "Nad Strypoyu" meet vacationers at the train and all the following days we are under their wing, i. e. no problem.

From Ternopil to Buchach 56 km and 25 km to the recreation center. The most remarkable in the road is the last section of the path. The last turn from the main road and the serpentine begins. This is not a Georgian military road, but I can’t count how many turns. There is such beauty around that again lost count. Many!

And here we are at the base. The territory of the base is big! There is a building, houses, a dining room and three meals a day, there is a lake with catamarans, there is everything for a quiet holiday. Silence in the area, clean air, all amenities (there is everything! ). This season, a new complex has appeared. Ukrainian huts. Inside the decoration of the Ukrainian hut - benches, towels. New bath.

But there is something for which I and other tourists come here. From here you can make radial routes and thus discover the Ternopil region. And since this is my third stay at the base, I can say that I have already seen a lot. The first route was Kamenetz-Podolsky-Khotin - Trench - Chervonogorodsky waterfall, and the second trip was Pochaev - Lake St. Anna - God's mountain - Kremenets - Vyshnevets.

On each trip, I dedicate one day to Buchach, who is located on the banks of the Strypa River. He's very handsome! And rich in history. Until 1914, Buchach was part of Austria-Hungary. Since 1914 to 1917 these territories are part of the Russian Empire. And on November 1.1918, the Ukrainians came to power and created the Western Ukrainian People's Republic. In July 1919, the city was occupied by the Poles. Since 1920, the Red Army was in Buchach and the city lived according to the decrees of the Galician Revolutionary Committee, located in Ternopil. In September 1939, Buchach was occupied by Soviet troops. From July 1941 to July 1944 Buchach was occupied by German troops. This is the history of the city only for the 20th century. There is no exact date for the founding of the city. Maybe 1260, maybe 1397. It is known that these lands were part of the Galicia-Volyn principality, then Eastern Galicia. Archaeologists on the banks of the Strypa discovered the remains of the settlements of the Tripoli culture tribes, and this is generally BC. In short, people have lived here for a long time.

For me, Buchach is such a western small town. I am very pleased that all repair work and construction of new houses are carried out without prejudice to the "old" traditions. The city has one "face" (which cannot be said about Kyiv. . . ). There is a sense of comfort and charm. It's nice to walk around the city and there is something to see.

The City Hall is located in the center of the city on Wola Square. This building is from the 18th century and is currently under restoration. The top has already been restored.

On the mountain are the remains of a castle from the 14th century. The thickness of the walls is impressive 3.5-4 m. The castle was built by the Buchatsky feudal lords. Now it is ruins and the locals use building material to build their houses.

From the mountain you can clearly see the Monastery of the Basilian Fathers (18th century). Stefan Potocki, who owned the land and the city, received permission from the Lvov archbishop to invite Fathers Basilian from Lithuania to Buchach to found a theological school for the Greek Catholic clergy. And in 1751, the son of Stefan Potocki, Nikolai, solemnly laid the first stone of the future complex. In 1991 the monastery was returned to the Basilian fathers. Since 1992, restoration work has been constantly carried out.

Not far from the castle grows a 600-year-old Golden Linden. Under this tree, on October 18.1672, a peace treaty was signed between the Ottoman Empire and the Commonwealth, also known as the Treaty of Buchach.

At the foot of the mountain is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin (18th century) built with funds donated by Nikolai Potocki. The portal above the entrance doors is decorated with the coat of arms of Potocki "Pilyava" and the text "Polish. Chcac Potockich Pilawa miec trzy krzyze cale, Dom Krzyzowy na Boska wybudowal chwale. A. D. 1763. ". In 1991 the church was transferred to the Roman Catholic Church. Restoration work is also underway here.

There is a church in the city of St. Nicholas, built by the Potocki spouses: Stefan and Maria (sister of Metropolitan Peter Mohyla). An architectural feature is the presence of high windows-loopholes on the second floor. The carved baroque iconostasis, made in the 60s, has been preserved in the church. 17th century at the expense of the Buchach townspeople.

Here he is Buchach!

Now let's talk about the surprise. Now there is a jeep rally at the Nad Strypoyu recreation center!

For this, the cool SUV JEEP Cherokee was crossed with the Soviet GAZ-66 truck. It’s easier for men to imagine this beast, I can only say hoo!! ! The beast! And sitting in the beast we went. Through the forest without a track - easily! They hit one rut washed out by the rain and got out without much effort. From the mountain to the river - easily! But when the beast roared slightly up the mountain, I felt somehow uneasy. It felt like we were about to take off! I didn’t understand which is easier: when you go down or when you go up.

And when we were driving along the mountain, and from the wheel of the car there were 10-15 centimeters from one and the other side of the car to the cliff, I felt the extreme! And you know, I liked it!

Mountains, forest, river, history, Buchach, Nad Stripoyu and a jeep! Respect!!!!!!!!

And on the last day of rest, according to the established tradition, we made a trip to the waterfall. It is located next to the base and an easy walk takes no more than an hour and a half.

A pebble for memory, a coin in a waterfall - see you soon!
